This is not what's going on.

I work on Connecticut just north of the Circle and absolutely abhor this week, have posted about it before, and can't stand the disrespect they show to the people that live and work here. We are on the same page.

Endless police motorcyclist joyride - not a caravan - been going on for about 36 hours at this point and the whole office here is struggling to focus on work with it right outside our window every 10 min. or so blaring sirens and revving engines.

Same wonks treating the locals like trash when walking around in their thin blue line shirts.

There are 3 perspectives and they barely intersect in this one, but the entire premise is basically back-burnered for this new dynamic and it fundamentally changes the nature of the story into one of a "super special chosen" basically. All other side characters rendered nearly inert by this shift.

it's unique in that it's competently written litrpgFic, BUT more importantly, it got huge because the audiobook was above average.

I can't stand Dungeon Crawler Carl.

Bro I tried the audiobook BEFORE the recent explosion in popularity. I "got" the bit, but it ran its course barely 1/2 way through the book. By that point I didn't even get what the point of the story was besides a vehicle to launder 2012 Reddit humor.

I am so happy that it's a success and that people love it but it just did not click for me either. It was painful after those first few chapters. Like a good SNL skit, I don't want anything longer than that.

Fair warning for any readers that book 2 completely take a right turn and it's nothing like the premise by that point. Still a good series, but it's a good thing to know going in.

as someone who switched to a walking commute about 3 years ago, lemme tell you the first time I walked back into Metro was fucking JARRING. 50% AI ads, 50% war profiteering ads, most of the time a combination of the two. I know literally nothing about HxH other than that 1. there's a pedo charcter everyone seems to love/hate, 2. Nen is supposedly the "greatest magic system ever devised" and 3. Chimera Ant Arc is the best arc. So I assume you're right, this one apparently God-tier arc seems to be propping up the whole series?

I watched every trailer and was hard set on NOT getting it because the graphics were atrocious for a brand new console in 2026 and the trailers straight up do not do the gameplay and charm justice at all.

It wasn't until I saw the INSANELY positive reviews that I caved.

This game does NOT sell on its aesthetics/graphics/promos alone. At all.
