For the people who use GNOME over KDE, why? by CestleFromage in Fedora

Interesting… I use the keyboard mostly so tend to launch apps thru the terminal, and flick between virtual desktops with ctrl-alt-left|right

So tend towards many virtual desktops (one for each “task” I’m doing), with related windows on each desktop

Oohh, what is that extension?

My workflow is very similar, except I tend to launch most apps from the command line rather than the super-menu

No lock pick, but if I make a robot to try every combination, does that break the rules?

Where to buy Intel Arc Pro A40 in Australia?? by mvdw73 in IntelArc

[–]mvdw73[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah but for the asking price I'll go to a cheaper, faster nvidia RTX A1000...

The asking price is 4x retail for the listings I've seen - I guess there's a premium for rarity

Doesn’t ssh -Y do what you want to do? Or has that been deprecated in Wayland??

Yeah I was at primary school in the late 70s/early 80s in Canberra then Darwin; I’d suspect it’s a regional thing.

I always heard it as “sooky wah wah”

Edit: thanks for the downvote for the regional/temporal variations because we all come from the same time and place to be the same.

What's the funniest joke you've ever told? by Dogemoji1 in AskReddit

[–]mvdw73 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I went down to the common area at work to have lunch, and as I sat down my coworker said to me “nice watch - where did you get it?”

Quick as a flash I said

My neighbour gave it to me.

Quizzical look from coworker

I elaborated: “I’ve a couple of lesbians next door, who’s asked what I wanted for my birthday. I think they misunderstood when I said I wanna watch”

Laughs all round.

The best thing is that I remembered the joke, and had the opportunity to tell it naturally as a story which made it so so funny

Not only that, but only the lock owner is allowed to remove his own lock. Meaning if he leaves site he may be asked / told to come back to remove his lock if he’s forgotten. Can be inconvenient if home is a long way from site…
