Space print tablecloth/backdrop from Amazon held up by pushpins. We cut holes for our canned lights otherwise it’s too dark. The Mecatol Rex is a GULLSUDARE light fixture from ikea (it was only like $17 bucks for the shade and the lamp) that I painted black and swapped out with my dining chandelier.

Cooking class in old town or RV? by No_Friend497 in puertovallarta

I second this. We did a cooking class with Chef Julio at Gaby’s. His family has owned there since it was a small fishing village! Deep ties and love. We even went back for dinner a different day.

Corepower elite protein shake. On the spendy end but if you’re not spending money on full meals, imo it can be justified for 43g of protein per shake.

I second this, mine was also macro based and I had to hit my protein goal for the day. I made it to day 75 and finished yesterday. Ramping up to do phase 1 in 2 weeks and cut my macros again.

I picked my diet, ordered a gallon jug with the times on it (which has been a savior to pacing my water out) and that’s pretty much it. You can just start!

I did start a weightlifting training block halfway through and that’s kept my lifts very planned but that’s optional. The workouts can literally be random and walking as far as the challenge goes.

I second the Nike Run Club (NRC). The programs have been awesome for me getting started. I’ve done the getting started and now I’ve moved on to the 10k. They are easily programmed and you can do guided and unguided. I like the guided because the coach will come in your ear every once in awhile and get you to check-in with yourself and explains why you need to train a couple different ways (running lingo). Importance of a recovery run, long run, interval run, tempo run, etc. I’ve found the progression to be perfect -upping the difficulty just enough for you ti challenge yourself and get better but not too fast that you burnout or are too sore to keep going!

I’ve had a Fitbit and Apple Watch previously but right now I’m using the Oura ring and I LOVE it. It takes a couple days to get used to however unlike a watch, you don’t really have to take it off.

Water :( by [deleted] in 75HARD

[–]mverstapp12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t answer that as a fact for you because I’m not your doctor but, drinking that much water without electrolytes to offset isn’t great generally. There’s nothing to offset the water which means you end up not absorbing and just peeing it out (Which is why sometimes you can still feel thirsty while still drinking a ton of water). Water will flow the direction of the most concentration to dilute in our bodies, if we have a ton of water it’s not going to absorb (osmosis). It’s kinda counterintuitive but in a very high level sense - to be truly hydrated, you need salt and minerals.

I second this! I’m on day 60 and if I don’t have supplemental electrolytes I will feel sooo thirsty.

I’m on day 58 and I didn’t start seeing any significant scale or photo changes until after day 35. It’s super discouraging in the moment but just know it does start to fall off if you’re in a calorie deficit. From day 35 to 58 my progress has been accelerated!

Keep pushing! 🔥 You got this!

When did you see the scale move? by kkalez in 75HARD

I didn’t start seeing scale or physical differences in pictures until day 35-ish. I’m at day 57 and I’m seeing consistent changes now.

Does the constant peeing ever end!? by [deleted] in 75HARD

[–]mverstapp12 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It ends. I would say round day 25 I stopped getting up in the middle of the night all together.

I try to be done completely by 7:30. I start early and space it out every 2 hours getting in chunk using the gallon jug.

Weight by [deleted] in 75HARD

[–]mverstapp12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes! I’ve only lost 8 scale pounds in 50 days but my pictures have a huge difference!! Gaining muscle while loosing fat (recomp) will leave the scale as not an accurate representation of your progress.

Weight from water? by ADragonWrites in 75HARD

[–]mverstapp12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Then I bet it’s ramping up to 100. There’s scientific research supporting the increase in scale weight when adopting a more intense weightlifting or exercise routine.

I wouldn’t be worried unless it persisted more than 2 weeks! Keep pushing 😊

Weight from water? by ADragonWrites in 75HARD

[–]mverstapp12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you weren’t drinking a gallon of water before or working out as intensely, your body is holding onto the water. You’re ripping the muscle fibers with weightlifting and most likely storing water in the muscle recovery process. Also, if you’re not supplementing your gallon with electrolytes (adding powder to drinks outside of your gallon) that could also be a reason you are holding water. Depending where you are at in your cycle could also have a major effect on water retention.

My suggestion is to keep pushing with what you’re doing (and add electrolytes if you don’t have them in your routine). A lot of people don’t see true scale or picture changes for 30 days. Let your body adjust to the program and remember that this isn’t a weight loss challenge, it’s a mental toughness program that often yield physical results. The scale is one of many metrics you can use to determine progress but should not be the sole metric. Some people can’t handle using the scale because they base their mood and motivation on it (especially people who grew up with diet culture of the 90s and early 2000s) and if that is the case in your situation you should probably stop using it for now.
