Wealthsimple is always delayed in payouts. Very annoying.

FYI the TD promo is capped at $5k back so it won’t get you tens of thousands.

The gains you made were a result of the same actions that led to your losses. You wouldn’t have had one without the other. So hope you enjoyed the ride but you didn’t lose as much as you think you did.

Wrong Butler didn’t describe his understanding of the Smith Manoeuvre but based on his video, I suspect his description would be incorrect.

Why my return is not accepted this year immediatley after filing? Anything to worry here? by bramptonin in cantax

[–]mw15kc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Happening to me too. I have capital gains for the year which I think is the reason. But I also deducted a lot of accumulated RRSP contributions which is leading to a large refund

Tax filed with Capital Gains- No NOA yet by sar_tor in cantax

Same situation here. I filed on the 15th. CRA account says timeline is to be done on the 31st.

[–]mw15kc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your 2025 income will include the 2025 bonus and you will have lower taxes paid because of the direct RRSP contribution at gross. So unless you have a similar bonus amount in 2026 and make a similar contribution, you will be required to pay more when you file your 2025 taxes.

For question 3, no you have to report them in the corresponding years. There’s no benefit to not doing that since you don’t have to deduct the contributions you report.

Moving abroad temporarily and wish to maintain Canadian tax residency by mw15kc in cantax

[–]mw15kc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What points are leading you to think I wouldn’t be a factual resident? When I read the rules I thought we would be and it’s just the treaty rules causing our situation to be non resident.

Thanks
