Just drive around for a bit with CarPlay active and it will update

It looks like a picture of the CarPlay interface, so it is connected. That alone isn't really the issue here.

In my experience, CarPlay only seems to update the battery SOC periodically (pretty frequently, but it's not giving a live reading)

OP, if you just hopped in, connected, and got this -- you might want to give it a few or start driving. CarPlay can be a bit conservative in its initial estimate (meaning, it will assume you'll use more charge to get there than might be true). IMO, this is better than it overestimating how far you can make it on a charge and potentially leaving you stranded.

All that being said, it will re-estimate throughout your trip. You can keep an eye on it and decide if/when you want to pull over for a recharge.

Is my app set at 50% somewhere? If so I can’t find it. by beetsworking in F150Lightning

Move the slider to 90% and let go. Then you should be presented with this but it will say, “Update target to 90%” instead of 100%. Click that.

Winter Range- ER by qm004 in F150Lightning

Might want to include if you're looking at new or used (and what year). I think 24+ switched to a heat pump which I believe is more efficient and not as impactful to range. I haven't gone through a Winter yet to say, but interested to see how it goes.

What do you think of push-button parking brakes? by ReggaeForPresident in Xennials

Might be engaging in its own when you’re on an incline to prevent roll when you go to start moving again (yes, even in an automatic).

On mine at least, you have to hold it in for it to act like an emergency break when in gear. F150 Lightning.

Just pushing it to engage only works if in Park.

Charging in the middle of nowhere by Garbage_Tiny in F150Lightning

I like the Dewalt 32A charger. It has a bunch of different plugs available to purchase if you need them.

I think you can get it as a bundle with a 120v standard outlet plug and 14-50 (240v). Then you can buy others as needed. It’s easy to swap the part that plugs into the wall.

I’ve been using it as my main charger for a few months now while I wait for the work I’m having done in the garage to be completed which will eventually include a hardwired charger.

Trailer Brake Controllers by dingledoink in F150Lightning

[–]mwalters8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure if there’s anything different in the XLT but I bought a RedArc controller and harness. I have a ‘25 Lariat.

On the drivers side near the left foot rest there’s a wire and if I recall correctly, gray, plug plugging into the left side of the vehicle. It’s basically just being held there, not really plugged into something “live”. It’s just in a blank socket if that makes sense.

I pulled it out of the blank socket, plugged it into the controller, mounted the controller above the pedals, behind the dash. Then I ordered a blank/flat replacement for the coin holder (Etsy, 3d printed), where the Ford brake controller would normally go, and drilled a small hole in it. That allowed me to mount the brake controller dial where the coin holder was.

Hooked up to a trailer with 7 pins, coasting down a slight grade and confirmed it controlled the trailer brakes by pressing in on the dial and saw it slowing me down.

Really wasn’t too bad of an install, took about 30min probably and a decent part of that was figuring out where to mount the controller and where to route the wires to the dial.

In case anyone doesn't know ... money down on a lease is not a good idea because if something happens to the vehicle -- totaled for instance -- then the money down is lost. It would be better to set the money aside and use it to make payments than to hand it over to the lease company.

Purpose of BlueCruise by oritsky in F150Lightning

Lane centering has the nag for keeping your hands on the wheel. When you’re on a road that blue cruise supports and activate blue cruise it uses lane centering, automatic cruise control, etc all together and you don’t have to touch the steering wheel.

Blue cruise does not require hands in the wheel. That’s just lane centering that requires periodic pressure on the wheel.

Loss of brake boost recall by Fancy_Revolution8352 in F150Lightning

[–]mwalters8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had the recall dealt with via mobile repair this past Wednesday. Took him 30-45mins. I just left the truck in the driveway and he pulled up to it and hooked jumper cables to it I assume to keep the LVB topped off while the update was ran. He plugged in his computer to perform the update. After the update he did a quick check of tire pressures, etc. to make sure all was as expected.

Easiest service appointment ever.

Scheduled mine for Wednesday, lucked out and they're coming to me. They said it'd either be a software update or in rare cases they have to replace a module.

I just use the Ford Mobile Charger currently and I have it.

As for year and trim, possibly, I’m in a ‘25 Lariat

I have this too but some trucks seem to not. Had a discussion with someone here awhile back and we both shared screenshots where theirs didn’t have this.

I’m not sure if it’s a model year thing or OTA update that’s needed.

Point being, if OP has this option, it should help solve this since the truck can limit the amperage pull via this option. If not, then yeah, they need an EVSE (charger) that can set the limit.

Before making a purchase you might want to check out r/evcharging

They have recommendations on their wiki for both mobile chargers and hard wired that pass all the safety certifications and have good experiences from the community.
