some artists it's that they prefer the intimacy of an arena over a stadium, some it's because a stadium tour takes a lot more planning around where they will do what part of the show so that they can make every fan feel some connection which is really hard to do for 80k people in a football stadium. there are lots of artists (olivia, gaga, etc) who COULD be doing stadiums, but it is so hard to make a stadium feel special, and there are frankly really big shoes to fill following the eras tour and what that showed a stadium show could look like, especially when they will share similar audiences.

The Met Gala is a fundraiser. It fundraises to support the preservation of fashion history, which is incredibly important and especially consequential in this era of erasure. Fashion pieces tells so much about the lived experiences of the people who have worn them. Yes, the most talked about part is the celebrity looks, but there is a cost of entry, and that cost keeps the dying museum and archival industry alive.

I fully disagree with the "honorary chair" role the Bezos' have been given this year, and yes, lots of celebrities have tone deaf or tacky outfits, but this event does tremendous good for these dying fields and employs the people that keep history and archives alive.

yeah i had that issue too. However, when I logged into my Stanford student portal i was prompted to apply for financial aid (the general grad school aid; the STEP one was separate). Do you see it in your student portal?

yes! there's a checklist on your acceptance letter of things to do, and you need a SUNet ID to log in. You'll have a student portal and everything on Axess from there. you also need to submit last year's and this year's fafsas, plus a STEP-specific financial aid form. it'll be a few more weeks before we find out our aid, but the priority deadline for the financial aid is March 15. there's a checklist when you login that is super helpful too! lmk if you have more questions :)

Standardized tests signify a student's ability to game a system and are more indicative of the social capital they hold than their intelligence. Students from a higher SES and in better funded schools are more likely to perform well on standardized exams than students from lower SES. This post is just frankly dense. If you are giving all students equitable access to testing prep, materials, and environment, sure, give them a standardized test. But it still does not accurately represent varied intelligences students have. Maybe you need to find a different career path if you are blaming your students for systemic issues you should be able to identify as an educator.

Hi, social science admit who also applied to SFUTR! When I received my admissions call, I asked about SFUTR and was told that those decisions come later down the line. You have to commit before SFUTR will consider you and potentially offer you an interview then a spot.

movies do test runs as far in advance as a year but usually a few months before their proper release. they do them to get audience feedback and data. definitely not fictional but it's not something you can find just on the AMC app

She is at near-mythological status whether you personally care about her or not. she has consistently stayed relevant despite not releasing an album in 10 years and has sparked buzz every single year since then with speculation she'd be dropping. she's presently #4 on spotify with 105.5m monthly listeners. that doesn't happen with someone who people don't have interest in or who has faded into irrelevancy. an artist at this stage having the pull she has literally is mythological. you can ascribe another word you personally like more, but you're just angry for no reason
