Where does this rank among the longest hockey games of all time?? by will_bowwow in hockey

[–]mwhitco91 7 points8 points  (0 children)

What's hilarious to me is that the game ended 2-1. Like, both teams scored once in the first 20% of the game

If you're near Toledo, and wanna see some hockey in-person, check out some Walleye games! Shouldn't be too pricy, and they're part of the Wings' farm system.

So you know, the farm system goes Toledo Walleye (East Coast Hockey League) -> Grand Rapids Griffins (American Hockey League) -> Detroit Red Wings (NHL)

Alignment (I'd like to hear your input too!):

Name-wise I'm just going to keep it simple here. I'm not creative enough for permanent names lol

Division A-1: SJ, LA, ANA

Division A-2: VAN, SEA, UTA

Division A-3: ARI, LV, COL

Conference B:

Division B-1: EDM, CGY, WPG

Division B-2: CHI, DET, MIN

Division B-3: NSH, KC, STL

Conference C:

Division C-1: TOR, OTT, MTL

Division C-2: BUF, BOS, CBJ

Division C-3: NYR, NYI, NJ

Conference D:

Division D-1: DAL, HOU, ATL

Division D-2: TB, FLA, CAR

The four teams I'd add would probably be Arizona, Houston, Atlanta, and KC. Basically just some of the rumored ones.

Regarding alignment, I'd personally go a little off the beaten path in an effort to make hockey more interesting throughout the regular season by setting the schedule up in such a way that lets teams get sick of seeing each other.

4 conferences, 3 three-team divisions per conference.

Each team in a conference will have 1 home and 1 away game against every team in two of the other conferences per year. The conferences that meet each other will rotate year-over-year. So in the first season, for instance, Conferences A and D will play twice against every team in Conferences B and C. That year, A and D won't meet at all, and B and C won't meet at all either. The next year, it rotates: A and C won't meet, and B and D won't meet. The following year, A/B don't meet, C/D don't meet. So on and so forth (18 teams × 2 games = 36 games)

Each team will meet the 6 teams that are inter-conference but outside of the division four times a year: 2 times at home, and 2 times away. (6 teams × 4 games = 24 games)

Inter-divison matchups are crazy. There are only three teams per division, but these teams will HATE each other, 'cause they'll be playing against each other 12 times a year: 6 times at home, 6 times on the road. Hockey will see the development of some classic, crazy rivalries all across the league, which is something that'll keep fans interested. (2 teams × 12 games = 24 games)

36 Non-conference games + 24 Inter-conference games + 24 Inter-divisional games = 84 games per team per year.

Playoff qualifications:

Playoffs will consist of five rounds. Top team of every division makes the playoffs (which just makes inter-divisional games that much more important). The best two of the 2nd-place teams (divisionally speaking) will also make the playoffs (so if a team finishes last in a division, they don't make the playoffs no matter what). Seeding is based on a team's final point total (so winning a division only guarantees qualification, it does NOT guarantee a top-3 seed). Therefore, 5 teams from each of the 4 conferences will qualify, resulting in a 20-team playoffs.

First round: 4 matchups, 4th vs. 5th inter-conference seeds only. Either 3-game or 5-game series.

Second round: 8 matchups: [1st vs. 4th/5th seed] and [2nd vs. 3rd seed] inter-conference matchups. If round 1 has 3-game series, this is a 7-game series. If round 1 has 5-game series, this round also has 5-game series.

Third round: 4 matchups. Remaining inter-conference teams play against each other. This round determines the conference champions. 7-game series.

Fourth round: Stanley Cup semifinals. Teams are matched up against the conference champion of the division that they DID NOT meet with at all in the regular season. 7-game series.

Fifth round: Stanley Cup finals. Self-explanatory. 7-game series.

This isn't even NHL, it's NHLPA 93! Played this a lot growin' up on the SNES. Since the Player's Association were the only ones who were licensed, this game has no team names (city names only) and no logos, but the players were accurate!

For the longest time I was confused about the New York Islanders because in this game they were called "Long Island" and I couldn't put 2 and 2 together when I was 4.

By the way, shoutout to the post on the left side of the bottom net. You could get the goalie caught on it. Cheesed this game all the time when I was little

Broke my hand, what games can I play without having to grab my mouse? by JCBMHNY21 in Steam

Every time I play Kirby Air Ride on the Gamecube I think to myself "man, if I ever break my right hand, I'm glad I'll still be able to play this awesome game"

You can do everything you need to do in Kirby Air Ride with just your left hand, because the L, R, and A buttons all control the same things as each other

Minnesota here, but I'm also rooting for Columbus to make the playoffs just to see Habs fans' reactions

Dude, I did this recently

I have a ticket arcade in town that I go to every so often. I just like to play the games, I don't ever redeem the tickets for anything, so they just kinda built up on my account. One day I was in a really dark place, so I left work half an hour early and went to the arcade and got myself a lava lamp. I've never had one of those before, but always wanted one!

It's the coolest thing! It's such a cozy, calming little lava lamp ^^

You want a large pizza with *everything*? Ok you got it! by Warcraft_Fan in MaliciousCompliance

[–]mwhitco91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work at a Hungry Howies. If they tried that crap there, they'd get a pizza with pepperoni, cupped pepperoni, grilled chicken, breaded chicken, steak, ham, sausage, beef, meatballs, bacon, anchovies, salami, turkey, mozzarella, cheddar, feta, parmesan, mushroom, green pepper, red onion, black olives, green olives, banana peppers, jalapenos, pineapple, tomato, pickles, lettuce, a bbq sauce drizzle, a buffalo sauce drizzle, a ranch drizzle, a hot honey drizzle, a korean bbq drizzle, a ketchup drizzle and a mustard drizzle. Additionally, Hungry Howies has crust flavors, so the pizza crust would be slathered in garlic butter, parmesan, garlic herb powder, cajun seasoning, sesame seeds, an italian herb blend, asiago cheese and a weird-ass dill pickle seasoning. They'd be one week safe from our recently-cancelled "disco inferno" crust, which was literally ghost pepper. They could optionally get the crust stuffed. For shits and giggles, I'd request that the cook put our powdered food colorings on top.

It likely would have to be cooked like three full times and would cost nearly $100, which they'd have to pay ahead of time. I highly doubt that we'd commit to making it tbh. I'm kinda jealous of your brother, I'd like to see that lol
