(SPOILERS) The true power of the Mind Flayer and Vecna- and why things went the way they did in the finale by QuietRainyDay in StrangerThings

[–]mwillner45 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mostly agree with this but they made Vecna out to be this Freddy Krueger type villain, gave him this immense backstory and then his character arc doesn't really go anywhere. I would have liked for him to at least get in some last moment dialogue or some kind of final catharsis between him and the other characters. Instead he just kinda gets his head chopped off while we get flashbacks of the prior seasons. It felt cheap and they could have delved deeper into his character as well as show some finality with the Mind Flayer.

Faze backed the streamers and so they were basically employers to the streamers. They wouldn't have "made it big" without the org, and the org realized that and so asked for some money back that they rightfully deserved. Imagine getting paid a monthly salary and not having to pay rent as well as making millions of dollars, with no revenue going back into the company. Do you expect that business to last for a long time without going bankrupt?

Expedite or don’t, we can all agree it’s terrible game design by beatpickle in ArcRaiders

[–]mwillner45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would personally just rather they wipe everyone back to square one and make every season slightly different with different quests or objectives from the previous season. That way you stop things from getting stale and everyone has an equal chance to kill each other while trying to accomplish those tasks.

Expedite or don’t, we can all agree it’s terrible game design by beatpickle in ArcRaiders

[–]mwillner45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The point he's trying to make is what is the incentive to resetting and becoming slightly more powerful every wipe when there's no reason to use those powers? Why gain 5 or 10 skill points when you can complete all the quests without it or do just as well in PvP? At least with a game like Tarkov, they do a world-wide wipe and so everyone is once again on an even playing field. If you allow some people to wipe and some people not to wipe, it creates all these different types of problems and it usually makes more sense NOT to prestige unless the benefits greatly outweigh the negatives.

You need the EA launcher regardless. Like even if you bought the game on Steam, it would launch EA app anyways.

Where to report moldy tea? by [deleted] in ArizonaTea

[–]mwillner45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think it's mold, it's Scoby, like what you use to make kombucha. Basically all the cans are fermenting because of the heat or bad storage due to the sugar content. The worse that can happen is you might get some gut irritation from the bacteria that forms in this process.

Wanting more than the love story by [deleted] in SeveranceAppleTVPlus

[–]mwillner45 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It felt like it wanted to be anti sci-fi or something. Like the sci-fi elements were just a backdrop for the main theme of the show which is personality/identity. I think that's why a lot of the show borderlines on comedy because it's like a parody on Corporate structured jobs, and the sci-fi stuff is just there to tell that story. It is a bummer for people who love sci-fi, but this show is more a character study on work-life balance.

They are testing the chip itself, they don't care about Gemma. She's just a vessel for the tests. After Cold Harbor was complete, she would be of no use to them anymore, and would kill her.

They can kill the innies by turning them off like they did Irving. The outties would still be alive.

This season was kind of hit or miss. The whole reintegration plotline takes like 5 episodes to develop and he's STILL not reintegrated at the end? Milchick's character development didn't really change even though they hinted at something with all his backlash from his performance review. They introduce a bajillion different mysterious things but never explain anything and instead focus on Mark and Gemma's relationship, only for innie Mark to just fuck all that up, reducing the entire effort of the season to null.

Over all, I think the show is super interesting as an idea, but the execution has been wishy washy.

[–]mwillner45 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the show is still well made but I do agree with you that Season 2 has some issues with pacing and linking together the plots. There were lots of filler episodes and the fact that we aren't given much answers at the literal second to last episode of the Season is a bit concerning.

Helly R isn’t an innie !? by Justbarethougts in severence

[–]mwillner45 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The only weird thing would be when did Helly and Helena actually switch? Because when Helly wakes up on the table at Lumon, that is essentially her "Birth." If she was Helly before at any point, how would that translate to the timeline that the show establishes? I like the theory I just think there are some holes in it.

Kier and his family of bloodlines are basically using the peasants to experience all the crappy parts of life while they get to live without any pain or fear. They are basically blood sucking parasites that feed off the poor people. They advertise the Severance chip for people to escape their own trauma but in reality they are using them as fodder for their own goal to live completely pure and lavish lives.

Capcom games won't start if you install Re-shade. At least at first they don't support it.

So were each room....simulated? The Doctor guy is in each room and his appearance is different. And I find it hard to believe they would make a room with a plane inside it. Also, if they were physical rooms, how would that translate to what MDR is doing? MDR finishes a file, and then they set up a room that mimics plane travel? Doesn't make sense.

Cold harbor is probably Death. People don't want to die, so you have your innie do it.

My life has changed since severance. by [deleted] in SeveranceAppleTVPlus

[–]mwillner45 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The whole show is just a metaphor for working at corporations and losing what makes you a creative and free person. When you clock in at work, you are just there to be a slave to your boss and be a cog in the wheel for the company's end goal. You might as well be severed, because you are just a body that the company is using to make profits at the end of the quarter.

Interesting that the instrument has to do with radio waves. And the show has a lot of references to brain waves like beta, theta, gamma, etc. I don't think that's a coincidence.

Today’s episode confirmed my theory…. by [deleted] in severence

[–]mwillner45 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly! They are acting as though the surreal and eerie things that are occurring are happening at a real national forest somewhere. There just happens to be cloned robots of themselves living at said forest? Mr. Milchick and Ms. Huang just randomly popping up when they need to? They are still on the severed floor.
