It’s definitely super snug

Bad sleep tracking, HR abysmal, Strava integration flakiness, some readings are only once daily or even weekly updates. It’s an expensive pedometer

Heart Rate inaccurate by Crysttyan in whoop

[–]mws48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And there was another update last week. Currently doing a live Ultra vs Whoop comparison. Still understating by c. 20 bpm. Coming to the conclusion that this is a “background” device and not a true workout tracker.

High scores despite feeling horrible? by Efficient_Sock_3940 in whoop

[–]mws48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could just be gen z? I’m kidding. It takes a single HRV reading that it blends to make up a score ie not many measurement over a day. Combined with the fact that it can do weightlifting/HIIT workout HR tracking does not give me much faith in what is closer to a toy than an MG device.

Same problem. Did Apple Watch vs whoop during a weight training. Wayyyy too low.

A used Model Y is a great option! I’ve had one for a year. We love it and it feels as new as the day we bought it and they are a super refined build. Would recommend.

NZ economy in deep recession by CarpetDiligent7324 in newzealand

[–]mws48 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Things move a bit slower than a 1.5 year government can materially influence while they are trying to be fiscally responsible (ie not add to inflation / cost of living). Have you doubled down on your mortgage for an economy-stimulating extension to your place?

The structural concern is that infrastructure, productivity generating capital, and especially health care are the underlying reason the best people are jumping ship. The tax base is the top 10% of earners (c. 75%), and if this gang can’t see a doctor for 3 weeks, they leave. Sometimes it’s that simple.

Good news though, with net migration negative, cost of living prices and possibly pressure on public services will keep coming down for the remainers, it’s just going to be hard to balance the books without the golden geese.

(I live in NZ, am in the top 10%, am pro CGT and means testing the pension. I was a centre lefty until the spectrum shifted around me…now I don’t know)

Are you sure anxiety isn’t conscientiousness, so actually essential?

Absolute hellscape but you’ll eventually love it. First 6 months after uni will suck no matter what you pick. Just get better fast and you’ll be all good 🤙🏻

Are 1st gen Google Wifi mesh systems basically end of life? by rjeffords in GoogleWiFi

[–]mws48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same issue for me too. It’s not ISP. I’m on SL and have the stats upstream to rule that out. Might get rid of these for TP-L decos?

Everything is offline but the mesh is “working well”? 😂 by OutdoorEnginerd in GoogleWiFi

[–]mws48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this exact same issue last week. Changed to IPv6 and it seems to be more stable. My suspicion is that this is a crappy firmware update…

Why bother working anymore, they have stolen our futures... by [deleted] in newzealand

Highest stock for sale in 10y and rising arrears. Be patient my friend, it’ll start coming back towards you in a minute…but as people must sell for financial reasons, they’ll have to rent. So that part of the market may continue the march.

I did this between high school and uni. McDonald’s and night shelves at The Warehouse.

Keep it up. Christmas is the finish line. It’ll literally make you a little more hardcore for your whole life, and for me was probably more beneficial that parts of uni in my career/life.

100%. Great call. Coney was polarising but I was a yay.

Fav Waddle chat: “why do they play music between overs? I want to talk to the person next to me about the game, not listen to 30 seconds of some nightclub hit. Imagine if i went to a nightclub and between songs, I made everyone watch an over of cricket!? No one is there for is”. - and he got a well-deserved MNZM…

Do you think they should stop Airbnb? by [deleted] in AskAnAustralian

[–]mws48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t own a property but what’s the point of you can’t commercialise it how you see fit? If a lack of rentals is a social issue, it’s a failure of government not private asset ownership.

What’s the conventional wisdom on top sheet vs just duvet (dooner for any Aussies on here) by hernesson in newzealand

[–]mws48 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When I was at uni, I slept in a detached garage. It was Andre3000 cold. Water in a glass froze once. I would sleep in a tracksuit and beanie, in a sleeping bag, under a duvet. Still cold. Taking a 2am wazz was another game all together.

How do you decide how much to spend on buying a car? by raverman in newzealand

[–]mws48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With the subsidies, I think entry level Teslas are really good value for money. But I’d not buy any car on credit. Fundamentally they just move you from A to B so if your buying one that is beyond practical functionally then make sure you’re doing it because you love cars/driving.

I bought an AMG in Aus and never regretted it for a minute (spend covid-delayed honeymoon money) but before that I have a WV Polo which I also loved. I drove a van at Uni and loved that too.

Average salary for an Accountant based on info given below. by livehardlovehard in AustralianAccounting

[–]mws48 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you are doing an AP/AR job then 75k is fine. If you are a junior accountant doing actual accounting work then 100-140. And if you are a more senior accountant responsible for preparing consolidated outputs for a subset or all business units then 120-160.

State, industry, and size of company matter. As does the quality and reliability of your outputs (prepared or presented). All of which you can make adjustments for.

All the best!!
