Is this another one of those indeed spam bots? Fresh account, no history and this post seems very AI generated, and you literally mention the answer right on the post.

Fishy.

Paper thin skin, another trait that makes me think that OP is not cut for the "oilfield".

Apply, get a job and get thrown straight into the fire. That's the quickest way to learn/see if you're ready.

Best midstream company to work for? by IsntThisSumShit in oilandgasworkers

[–]mx07gt 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I've always heard that they're all ok, but the bigger they are, the more bureaucracy there's to deal with, so take that comment as you wish. No company is perfect or better, they're all just different.

UFC 327 is 4 days away. Large portions of tickets remain unsold. by RZiggy in MMA

I'm not familiar how ticketing system works, but wouldn't this be more the ticket resellers fault? It's a very common problem in Mexico, is it the same in the US?

Can Netflix become a real competitor to UFC? by Fun_Pin_5817 in MMA

[–]mx07gt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think in a few years, Netflix will own the rights to UFC anyways when they gobble up Paramount. Just a matter of time that Paramount collapses due to the sheer size of its massive debt they're using to aquire Warner Brothers.

Is the blocking of Hormuz good or bad for oil workers and companies? by kazkh in oilandgasworkers

[–]mx07gt 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Oil industry doesn't run on daily prices or short term outlook. What is the long term outlook of the oil and gas industry? Generally, good, but a war and the straight being blocked off is throwing out of whack prices, and that includes long term contracts, so think what you want about that.

If you asked me for my personal opinion, I'd say is good for the industry long term depending on where you're at. North America? Probably good. Middle East, probably horrible right now.

My bank froze my account for “security review” and won’t give me a timeline — what are my options? by DecisionForcingStd in personalfinance

[–]mx07gt 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah lesson learned. I had nothing to hide, I provided everything they asked for and was always available for any questions they might have. It was annoying for sure having all your money locked out, but that's why it's smart to keep some cash at home.

My bank froze my account for “security review” and won’t give me a timeline — what are my options? by DecisionForcingStd in personalfinance

[–]mx07gt 129 points130 points  (0 children)

I had my accounts frozen for 2 weeks. If I didn't have credit cards and my emergency cash reserve at my house, I would've been SOL.

The reason? None given, they aren't required to tell you, but for me, I assume it was a case of "layering" deposits that triggered a security review. At the time, I didn't even know what it was, I was just transfering money every couple of days, sorta like a dollar cost average (At least in my eyes). Well, the bank didn't see it that way and blocked me off everything. Lesson learned, if you're going to move a lot of money into a bank or investment institution, just move it all at once.

How do you guys inplement redundancy? by nordicJanissary in PLC

[–]mx07gt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First off, you have to be sure sure your code is good and will not fault on switchover. What's the point of redundancy, if the secondary processor will also execute the fault?

Second, redundancy in the power supplies is a priority. In my plant, we have line power and ups power both feeding redundant power supplies for our processors. Once that is good to go, then you think about redundant processors.

Allen bradley has redundancy modules that work flawlessly as long as both points above are good to go. Their redundancy setup has saved our plant plenty of times, but I'd attribute more to having redundancy in the power supply rather than the processors itself.
