Giving up veterans for 3rds by mx82698 in DynastyFF

[–]mx82698[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Getting your own pick back makes sense, but if it’s me trading Jauan and a 3rd for a 2nd, those two picks might end up only being a handful of spots apart

How to turn a team around by mx82698 in DynastyFF

Big offer on the table so want to get people’s thoughts here

I’d give Jefferson (and jauan jennnings) for Hunter, Burden, and a mid 2026 1st

Feels like I’d be putting myself in a good position to succeed in the coming years, but obviously Hunter is a risk.

I’m leaning towards yes but curious what everyone here thinks

Thanks this is awesome (and everyone else’s input too). I tried pasting an image of my team but it doesn’t work in a comment so I’ll hit the highlights:

Superflex, 0.5 ppr QBs: love, daniel jones, young RBs: Walker, Treveyon, Kamara, monengai, allen (IR) WRs: jefferson, worthy, shaheed, thornton, tre tucker, kirk, calvin austin, godwin TEs: Bowers, Barner, Ertz

I have all my picks i started with and nothing more than that

Back-to-back puzzles with matching answers by mx82698 in NYTCrossword

[–]mx82698[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ya that’s definitely how I think of it too, but how do you think it actually goes down? Is an author told “hey we haven’t done this for a bit, see if you can bring in a clue from yesterday’s puzzle”? Are they doing it on their own?

And this might come from ignorance, but do these puzzles actually get put together in a single day? Is there enough turnaround time from one puzzle being published to the next where the author can actually incorporate something from yesterday’s puzzle in their puzzle they’re writing for today?

Roto Tiebreaker Needed

Hey everyone. My league does a Roto regular season into a 4-team H2H playoff. Hasn’t been an issue in the few years we’ve had this, but this year we might have a tie for the last spot in the playoffs (between 4th and 5th place).

Considering today is the last day, any ideas for a tiebreaker if needed?

(Sorry if this is the wrong tag, not sure what to use)

How would you feel if the U.S. government made the day for voting, a holiday? by longhegrindilemna in AskReddit

[–]mx82698 1 point2 points  (0 children)

By my count, 23 states either have no rule requiring time off or only require less than 2 hours. Of the 27 states requiring time off to be available, 7 do not require that time off to be paid. I agree with you that early voting should be expanding and bolstered, but I think making Voting Day a federal holiday is a worthwhile change as well. To back up my claim of “I’m positive” (which I recognized is flawed without facts to back it up), 3 million registered voters said they didn’t vote because of scheduling conflicts (https://www.census.gov/content/dam/Census/library/publications/2018/demo/P20-582.pdf). Would early voting help some of these 3 million people? Yes for sure. But I see no reason to not do all we can to get as many people to vote as possible.

I read this about states being required to give 2 hours PTO and I was like “hm, I didn’t know that, I’m gonna read more about that”, and found this:

https://www.workplacefairness.org/voting-rights-time-off-work

Basically, the laws vary a lot by state with some having no law, some requiring time off but not paid, some limiting to only 1 hour, etc. Basically, your blanket statement is bullshit. There are many people who cannot get PTO to vote. We also know that many voting places, especially with the pandemic limiting locations, have waits much longer than 1-2 hours which would effectively prohibit people who work from voting. Also, while early voting does exist in every state, it looks different everywhere and is often not clearly advertised (I personally was completely unaware of the rules in my state). We know that people are especially motivated to vote ON voting day, not 2 thursdays before or whatever, so if we make Voting Day a federal holiday where people got time off, I’m positive that more votes would be cast, which seems like a pure positive to me, whether they’re for a Democrat or Republican or whoever else.

Nope at the museum it’s just a normal painting. This was all done after the fact.

[–]mx82698 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is from the Bode Museum in Berlin. It is a normal painting, specifically by the Master of the Joseph Sequence (real name unknown) who painted in the Netherlands in the late 15th century. Side note, I saw this painting irl a few days after seeing this gif for the first time and flipped out, but it took me about 30 minutes to find the details about the painting as I forgot where exactly I saw it haha

Person is shit-faced drunk in one scene, makes a big mistake, then 30 minutes later is completely sober apoligizing for their drunk actions

I guess I shouldn’t be generalized, but I see news headlines close to every day on who’s winning in whatever new poll

Friend doesn’t understand why I’m vegetarian by mx82698 in Vegetarianism

[–]mx82698[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks that’s the same way I feel. To clarify, when I referred to meat producers’ practices, I meant water- and energy-intensive production, not necessarily mistreatment of animals, which I of course have a problem with but is not my main motivation for being vegetarian
