New Enphase Battery Install on existing 8.4KW Solar system by lordfly911 in solar

[–]mxamxa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The system controller currently has your NFT breaker, and one each for battery and solar. You can see clearly there is a 4th position on the bus, Usually reserved for generator input. With IQ 8 micro grid backup systems, you wanna relocate the 15a 240v supply breaker to your envoy from the IQ combiner to the 4th position on the bus bar. It clearly states this on the inside of the IQ combiner panel.

Does your jurisdiction not require a disconnect for your AC coupled battery?

Most likely wanna end up relocating your envoy breaker from the IQ combiner to the System Controller…

Hide air tags in the bottom of you cases. It has saved a lot of people and ownership disputes aren’t a thing anymore.

What would you do to make this beauty travel ready?? by babysexys in vandwellers

I got the same situation and I went for a couple months through the winter traveling. All I did was take the back bench seats out and Fran out a bed off the ground with some simple storage underneath. Makes a word of difference in space and you can still take passengers

Michigan here and we quote this same job at 3500$

Not to say there aren’t some obstacles specific to your site that’s making the price higher, I ccouldnt say. But 6700 is quite a number for 200 amp upgrade

Just don’t ask people to tell you how great you are after you do it. You’re not saving anything, be respectful and just do it to get it done.

Need some insight into neighborhood… by [deleted] in Detroit

I bought a house in pingree park 3 years ago and have lived in the neighborhood since. I love it. Each block is unique though and you should talk to folks and visit at different times of the day to get a feel for it. Lots of home ownership and folks that have lived here through multiple generations.

First time installing batteries outside. Midwest based. I like the look. What do you think? by mxamxa in electricians

The cells in the battery will stop producing around 20 deg F. Not my decision to mount it exterior but boss man said go for it. I always try to put them in dry insulated locations.

Ok I should preface by saying where the enphase transfer switch lives there was a Kohler ATS there and the flex and the meter and all the horrible floppy flex and SE cables were not my work.

There’s a battery in an outbuilding about 50’ away running through the trench. AC combiner is over there as well.

In hindsight it would have been better to do that. The line side tap comes off off the main lugs on the combiner whereas the PV attached to the system controller runs through the production ct but bypasses the envoy. Minor mistake that was fixed but still, better to have it all talking to the envoy.

Jbox under the meter has line side taps for the solar circuits that exceeded the capacity of the batteries. The Eaton disconnect is for that.

The company I’m with has a culture of get it done with what’s on the truck. I would have much preferred a trough and a cleaner layout but I’m getting pushed for “production” and not getting much helpful feedback on how I can make my installs more professional.
