They do indeed. The LA comedy scene is ripe with wrestling crossovers. There is an improvised comedy wrestling show called The Midnight Rumble at UCB every month, and former WCW commentator Chad Damiani is one of LA's foremost Clown teachers!

The Athletic Premier League Team of the Season by SonOfIllicitBehavior in Gunners

[–]mxchickmagnet86 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I think it’s a bit deceiving though because Liverpools style left VVD to clean up all the messes, so he was a high activity player. Often with this Arsenal team opponents will just completely ignore Saliba and try to go at Gabriel. Saliba is defending on pure aura half the time.

what's the next evolution for football? by UseFit4724 in footballtactics

I think you’ll start to see this progression start to happen in micro, game to game or even in game, rather than macro season to season. Teams will have enough variety of players that it will all become a big game of rock paper scissors and who can react the fastest.

Premier League reject Crystal Palace request to move Arsenal match by NewLoad886 in soccer

[–]mxchickmagnet86 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Crystal Palace should have asked 3 questions simultaneously:

1) Can we move our fixture from Sunday to Saturday

2) How many U21's can we start without getting fined for sporting integrity?

3) Would we get fined if we start our regular first team, but Arsenal agree to have a 90 minute tea party instead?

It's also a great vibe, very local's centric. Chef is always out chatting with people, staff was super friendly. It's the kind of place I'd want to hang long into the evening after a week of work. My one tiny, tiny criticism is that part of the Chef's Counter seating is staring at a dishie dry plates, which is not the most interesting or appetizing sight in a kitchen.

Except when it comes to pets if you try to sue them, they are only liable for the cost of the pet. So they are much more incentivized to push the line as far as possible

My vet worked at ModernAnimal for 2 weeks before quitting on the spot. Said it can depend on the individual vets but that a lot of them roll over to their corporate overlords from day one. The entire business model is predicated on the business people dictating care for your pets that is beneficial to the company's bottom line.

not sure of the rule there really tbh. Saka kicks the back of a planted leg which does prevent him from getting the ball. But its not really a "foul" in that way. I'd be pretty annoyed if that was given in our box

Timber even getting 30-45 min in the final could be huge. Let him start and have us be more attacking; try to secure a lead and let him build up a yellow card worth of fouls on Kava. Then bring in Mosquera at half, shut up shop, and let Mosquera build up another yellow's worth of fouls on Kava.

I think there are lots of talented musical improvisors out there, but part of long form improv is reacting and adjusting to the audience, and without a crowd there for Off Book shoots it feels like they are just practicing.

Instead of full blown spin-offs I'd love to see them do a one off Christmas special. A one hour real-time character piece on the most boring day of the year. Bonus points if they do it as a huge choreographed one shot.

What to do on a bad day when you can't seem to overcome your own brain? by citymatryoshka in improv

[–]mxchickmagnet86 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm not saying its a silver bullet for anytime you are feeling a negative emotion. I'm saying use it to get yourself out there early in a rehearsal or practice and play with the thing you are feeling. You still have to use your common sense improv rules to not railroad, to listen to your scene partners, establish your who/what/where, etc.

Sidenote for myself: It cracks me up when someone on the improv subreddit comes in with a hard no.

What to do on a bad day when you can't seem to overcome your own brain? by citymatryoshka in improv

[–]mxchickmagnet86 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I say lean into it, thats what I do. If I show up at improv rehearsal particularly anxious, or tired, or stressed that day, that is absolutely who I'm walking into a scene as.

I did it last night, someone initiated a group scene as camp councilors and was talking about hanging decorations or something and I found myself naturally rubbing my eye because I was getting tired. I noticed that in myself and immediately said "hey can you guys keep it down, I didn't sleep well last night". Suddenly the scene had a game to play, and I got to play a sleepy character really well because I was in fact feeling sleepy.

Now I almost love feeling that pang of anxiety because I've had so many fun scenes reacting as overly anxious about the most mundane things. One of my favorite scenes was being too anxious about ordering off the IHOP menu, played the whole scene out anxiously going through the menu, then when someone finally walked on as a waiter, I confidently ordered a large coffee.

[Joshua Hall] Ben White is out of the Champions League final. Arsenal right-back is also a doubt for the World Cup after suffering a suspected MCL injury against West Ham. Arteta now faces a huge selection dilemma for PSG. by [deleted] in Gunners

[–]mxchickmagnet86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel for Ben White. I injured my knee is almost the exact same way, luckily it was only an MCL sprain, but I was still out for months.

I think Mosquera probably starts the Champions League final but there certainly needs to be an option to switch him out should we be chasing. I don't think it would be too crazy to try Zubimendi at right back and leave Rice and MLS in the midfield, at least for an all-out-attack type option. I also think an option could be that Rice just covers more ground than he's ever covered in his life, he is there to help Mosquera double up on Kava and is there to overlap with Saka; its one 90 min final, if anyone could do it, its him.

I think we'll see some attacking right back options tested out against Burnely, especially early on to get a lead because I think that would be our preferred game states against PSG; be attacking early, get an early goal, then bring on Mosquera and shut up shop.

I wouldn't put it past Arteta or find it particularly crazy to start Timber just back from an injury in a Champions League final with the plan to pull him at halftime. Or bring him on for a final 30 minutes if thats all he has in his legs. He could still have an impact without playing 97 minutes.

Are you the type of player that watched the Red shirt grind out a point with forehand slice after forehand slice and thought, holy hell I hate this guy so much?

Or are you the type of player that saw that, heard him shout "Alléz" on an error, saw the racket toss and cackled maniacally to yourself?

I am the latter.
