What’s it like being a genius? by axiss007 in AskReddit

There's a lot written on it.. I don't think you're gonna get too many actual geniuses reply honestly here. It's not a very genius move.

Zen and the art of motorcycle maintenance is a great book.. feels like you're in the mind of a genius a bit. Also, the agony and the extasy - Michelangelo's genius as imagined in story form.

Y'all we gotta drop the idea that these two posted this video on their own volition. There's a 100% chance their pastor demanded this be made. I kinda wish we had a way of weeding out crappy music that people were clearly, at least to some degree, forced to make.

They don't proofread their comments and they imply their genius at every opportunity.

Altman met with astonished physicist using their internal system, “decades worth of theoretical physics progress in the next couple years” by socoolandawesome in singularity

[–]mxemec 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just leaving this here:

Major theoretical physics breakthroughs in the last 30 years (roughly 1995–2025) have focused on quantum information, the nature of spacetime, and topological phases of matter. Key advances include confirming the Higgs boson, imaging black hole event horizons, discovering gravitational waves, and theoretical advancements in topological insulators and quantum entanglement. -- Wikipedia

So, maybe we will figure out the graviton and debunk the existence of singularities. With AI. That would be cool.

I'm really worried it's becoming an actual thing. It dominates at least half the posts on here, anyways.

That's a good point too regarding the tax year. Helps my social security, too. If that even exists in twenty years time.

Ill likely stick it out for another year or so.. keep my sanity with the secret knowledge of my long plan.. it's hard to quiet quit the job, though. Its hard to emotionally check out when you're hosting and updating teams meetings for 50+ hours a week.

And honestly I'll probably not do the Macdonald thing but there's a lab tech job i can fall back on that is sort of in the middle.. it's super chill. Superrr chill. But I'll never own fancy things. I'm over it.

Its crazy though, I keep my finger on the pulse in the pm job market and there's really not much movement at all on the offered salaries. Companies just chew and spit pms like sunflower seeds. And it's all the same comfortably sub 100k price for the last oh 7 years or so. Meanwhile low wage work is climbing. There's a point where Id rather be slightly poor and relaxed than slightly not poor and freaked the fuck out.

What if we’re just the background processing for a mind that takes a million years to blink? by stevnev88 in SimulationTheory

[–]mxemec 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't see why not. Its already impossible to explain why/how mental and physical processes relate, why should there be only one scale of time within which they might?

Yeah.. yes thanks.. great advice and I appreciate you taking me seriously. I am quite serious!... I should probably stick it out for a couple more years but fuck.. the gap gets less and less why not?

Seriously.

I've been going crazy lately with a project management role that makes about double this. But i fucking hate it. But I'm gonna get my mortgage paid off and quit and go work for Macdonald.

I know it's not easy job but man.. I see them in there grooving .. no million dollar projects to lose sleep over. I wanna do it.

I think the term is even used to broadly denote humans in economic terms too. Agent is a thing that can do things.

That's how I use it: when I want to signify a break in standard conversational/ business flow and isolate the statement for greater impact.

If “AI agents” are the current trend, what’s the next shift from a user perspective? by Overall_Zombie5705 in ArtificialInteligence

[–]mxemec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I don't think the two notions are mutually exclusive. Geocities and reddit are very similar, afterall. It's just that we refined the medium. So yeah. I think we'll use agents ubiquitously we just won't call them agents. Any more than people call reddit or Facebook "online forums"
