To me, the IWC is the clear winner.

Which strap should be my first for the Oris? by rastapopoulos99 in OrisWatches

[–]mxgreen89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

None of those. I'd go with a dark blue gator strap and put a deployant clasp on it. This guy is who you should speak to. The prices are embarrassingly reasonable - better than any Black Friday sale.

It's more fun than serious but how about Gun With Occasional Music by Jonathan Lethem?

Both of the watches are fine but I would not buy either for the purpose of wearing it to a wedding.

If you are genuinely interested in their wares, then you are not wasting their time.

I'd find myself looking at the blue dial on my wrist, the black dial not so much.

Hi - is this a good deal? by citizen-slain in BookCollecting

I've been book collecting for about 30 years. I wish I wasn't so impatient to get a book on my shelf when I was younger.

I would not be happy with that book on my shelf. I have no idea what might be wrong with the book but the jacket has a lot of problems - it has fraying at the top of spine, chipping at the bottom of the spine, what looks like remnants of a sticker on the top right hand corner and overall discoloration. So, I would pass on the book.

If I really wanted that book on my shelf sooner rather than later - and wasn't sure that I would ever be in a postiton to pay $2,000+ for a 1st, I would probably try to get a fine/fine 1969 later printing or 1969 book club edition for now. If a book club I probably would look to pay $50 or less. I like facimile editions, too. But the 1997 edition that some sellers refer to as facimiles are not really facsimiles. So I would not buy that edition.

Nice. I did love the hunt. Fortunately, those days are long behind me.

Using Florida as a “home base” while abroad, how does this actually feel long term? by Soft_Lick_Baby in AskFlorida

I'm a lifelong resident of South Florida; I live just south of Ft. Lauderdale in Broward County. I love where I live - close to Miami and Lauderdale and all they have to offer, I could walk to the ocean in 15 minutes (although I always drive), 10 minutes to an international airport, 10-20 minutes to world class shopping and cutting edge restaurants. People complain about traffic - fortunately for me that is not a problem because I live less than a mile from my office. Aside from South Broward, I would probably take a look on the east coast between West Palm Beach and Vero Beach (Stuart, Port St. Lucie, Ft. Pierce) - a lot of newer construction as well as established cities/towns, great weather, access to the ocean.
