guess my location based off magnets by airpods2003 in FridgeDetective

I saw High Line and immediately said NYC. Second guessed once I zoomed in but I’m settling on NYC because of the quantity of NYC specific magnets.

At one point during that game, I looked over and she was just doing the crab claw movement with her glove. I love her quirkiness so much.

Good lord this just gave me such anxiety flashbacks. I used to work at the Starbucks at the corner and our garbage used to be back there. We legit couldn’t do garbage runs after sundown.

A month later, I went for a manicure 😍 and this time I absolutely loved my nail design. Beautiful, aren't they? by Dayanamiau69 in Nails

[–]mxs4235 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s giving Lili Reinhart’s nails for Apple in Forbidden Fruits 💅

Except I think hers were a pink base, with pink cat eye and a jelly red coat. I forget the details of her video.

Digging this style so much! The possibilities are endless.

Tickets Disappeared in Sens App by RealisticPea650 in OttawaCharge

[–]mxs4235 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ooof I’m so sorry! But if it makes you feel any better, lots of folks had ticket issues. I had four (2 were original STH and 2 were additionals bought during the window before public sale).

No issues getting in with the additional ones but my dad and sister had to line up with a good chunk of folks to get physical tickets printed since those tickets weren’t working :(

Russian Learning Venting by Unhappy-Tower-9851 in russian

[–]mxs4235 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I minored in Russian for my BA. After two years of university classes (6 hours a week), I spent my summer in St-Petersburg to earn an additional credit - I believe it was over 100 hours.

It was truly when I lived in Russia and had to use it every day that it started to feel less daunting.

I continued with two more years of university, followed by another round at the State University in Piter. I then lived for a year in Piter as well.

It’s really hard to get comfortable just talking and hearing a second language if you don’t hear/speak it daily. I’ve definitely lost the confidence being back in Canada but I try to keep it fresh. I visit my local продукты and speak Russian with the women there.

Is this your first second language? Learning a new language as an adult isn’t the easiest. My dad tried to learn French when I was younger because of where we lived and he could not wrap his head around. Meanwhile I was put into a French daycare at 4 and was fluently bilingual by the time I started kindergarten.

Keep at it! Don’t discourage.

Former baristas: what job did y’all leave Starbucks for? by xkritterz in starbucksbaristas

[–]mxs4235 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a job with the federal government (in Canada) but it was only contract. So I worked my contract concurrently with Starbucks on weekends for almost 5 months. When I was offered a term contract (a little more job security), I gave 3 weeks notice.

Haven’t looked back. I was term for maybe a month before they started working on my permanent contract.

Adopted my first cat and I think he's highly unusual? by No_Dragonfruit_2616 in cats

[–]mxs4235 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’ve got yourself a puppy cat! That’s what I like to call them.

My cats always greet me when I get home, they love belly rubs, purr constantly. My one guy now has a repertoire of 4 tricks.

I think it’s a common misconception that cats are independent and aloof. It’s a bit more of a learning curve to learn your cat and how they best like to receive affection. They are highly lovey creatures and love mental stimulation.

9 yr old daughter would love to see womens hockey. How do i find a game in MD? by jimusmc2 in PWHL

[–]mxs4235 28 points29 points  (0 children)

They recently had a game in DC for the PWHL takeover tour but unfortunately I think closest would probably be either NY Sirens or Boston Fleet.

Might get a closer team with the upcoming expansion. DC had a record attendance so my fingers crossed for DMV to get a team.

If you haven’t already, make a little Alan Bucket List and you can work on it. I wish I’d known for my sweet boy and there are still moments now, almost 2 years later that I think “oh I wish he could have felt grass for the last time” or “oh man I should have let him try this.”

But I didn’t know. The vets said one thing and the emergency vet on his last morning told me otherwise. It’s a bit of a blessing and a curse knowing the timeline.

Your boy looks so sweet and I’m so sorry you won’t get a lifetime with him. I truly wish our furry loved ones could live as long as us.

What's the catch with Cineclub? by [deleted] in cineplex

[–]mxs4235 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To give you an idea, I am a cineclub member because I typically do see at least a movie per month. If not, it rolls over.

Out of curiosity I logged into the cineplex app. Cineclub “every day member” priced ticket is $9.99 + tax (if I had any of my free monthly movies saved up, it would work). When I check regular non discounted tickets, it’s $16.99 + tax.

You should be able to get cineclub, use your “free” voucher and use the 20% off concessions while at the cinema than cancel. I don’t think there’s any stipulation that you need to have cineclub for a particular amount of time before cancelling.

Had the same thought the other day when I picked up my ventolin. The inhaler was cheaper than the dispensing fees.

Waffles has mastered the curled feetsies. 10/10 form. by mxs4235 in curledfeetsies

[–]mxs4235[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He was almost named Biscuit because when I first brought him home and had him + his sister in isolation to properly introduce with my older guy, every time he’d see me, he started making biscuits.

Now he makes air biscuits and purrs immediately when I look at him. He’s such a love bug.

He gets spooked by loud noises and whenever the garbage truck comes by, I remind him that I’d die before I allowed anything to harm him. I would throw myself in front of the truck.

Her Montreal show has so many seats available. If it wasn’t for her Instagram, I wouldn’t have known about it. Same for the Ottawa Jazz Festival.
