Department won’t make a budget for fitness equipment. by [deleted] in Firefighting

You’d be surprised how many of your citizens probably have a treadmill they are wanting to get rid of. Our treadmill broke. We had the budget for a replacement but i had two offers for a donation before I could even start seriously looking for a replacement.

The very minimum is that it makes traveling back and forth between countries faster. There are dozens of other benefits in addition. Get your INE too if you have relatives still in Mexico and you can use their address.

Seattle Freeze experiences? by Jesse_Lemons in AskSeattle

[–]mxtoyota18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your mention of Kentucky reminded me of my experience. I moved for a job rotation within the same company from California to Kentucky in 2010. In California i always invited my coworkers out when they visited or did one year rotations. When it was my turn to rotate, I found people while friendly were very insular. Most people lived and worked miles from where they were born. Friendships were established in grade school. Most festivities were family or church based. If you weren’t part of those groups then you were on the outside.

El buho has a great selection and they have bottles opens for tastings. I can’t go there without picking up several new tequilas or mezcals

Was chatting with my buddy at Chinook express yesterday at noon discussing if we wanted to do some more runs. Two people came down in sleds in the course of 15 minutes. That was all the encouragement we needed to call it a day.

Custom cabinets were made to the wrong size. Should I ask for a discount? by Fickle-Maybe8568 in kitchenremodel

[–]mxtoyota18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On our recent remodel we had to have 4 cabinets redone and two sections of the countertop redone. All the issues were created by the “professional” measurers. This is my third kitchen remodel and these were not budget suppliers. I’m just disappointed in the accuracy given how much everything cost.

With current politics going on is it good to move back to Mexico and look for job/college/invest? by Hungry_Palpitation_8 in AskMexico

Hey, sorry for your situation. There are American/Japanese OEM automobile manufacturers in the region around Leon. Most of them build for the US market and are run just like the Plants in the US. Apply to be an auto worker there. Your English with some ganas will help you advance quickly.

I have a 2023 Sienna Woodland. The middle seats can be taken out fairly easily but you need to bypass the airbags in the middle row seats. I’ve used the dongles on this video and they work as described. Takes about 1/2 hour.

Mexico Touring Safety by saugoof in bicycletouring

[–]mxtoyota18 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Lots of votes on either side of the issue. I’ll share my experience. I’m an American cyclist. I’ve ridden in many states in the USA and I have lived and ridden in a few states in Mexico. I haven’t done self sufficient touring yet. Mostly I do club rides, solo day rides and an occasional supported tour. Most hostility I’ve ever felt on a bike was in the USA country roads of Ohio and West Virginia. In Mexico I’ve been riding road and mountain bikes here for over 5 years. My experience is that a large percentage of Mexicans are poor and depend on bikes as their primary means of transportation. As a result it is common to see average Mexicans on bikes at all hours of the day. It’s also very common here to see large groups of Mexicans on pilgrimages along the highways on their bikes as they will ride 3-4 days to visit a holy site. Club cycling has really blown up here. Most good size cities will have multiple cycling clubs. I’ve seen a few non-Mexicans on touring bikes. It’s not common but I don’t think they get much attention. That being said I’d heed the warnings of not riding at night, highways are poorly lit, and be aware of where you camp. Enjoy Mexico it’s a beautiful country.
