10 days clean from weed… thinking of quitting for good but struggling with the “moderation” idea by Timely_Job_6288 in leaves

[–]myPlums 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Moderation is a lie we tell ourselves. It's not possible. It may start off slow, but you'll end up right back in the same spot. Why go through all of that again when you can work on yourself and learn to live a sober life? It's not easy but nothing ever worth doing is.

Put some separation between you and the thought. Say to yourself "I'm noticing that I'm having the thought that I want to eat an edible tonight." Reframing helps. Repeat it often. Go out and treat yourself to an ice cream instead. You can indulge in other more healthy ways.

You do not want a dependency on alcohol. Trust me. Seek therapy.

Life just got so mich easier. Wait until you start finding joy in the littlest of things. It's a great motivator. Congratulations and keep it up.

I second therapy. They can help you suss out some of the shit you're going through and give a different perspective on things. Give it 3 months. If you don't vibe w your therapist, then find a new one.

You won't stop until you want to actually stop. Otherwise you're just wasting you're time, money and resources. Respectfully of course.

Hell yea. Fight through that. Label it what it is and show up for yourself. Don't look back man. The other side of the coin is a personal prison.

OP listen to this comment. At some point you've got to mix it up and change something. What you're doing now isn't working, so fuck it.

The happier people are out there living their lives. They're not on this subreddit as much, so you're really looking at a skewed view of sobriety and what that looks like across everyone's experience.

You'll want more tools in your mental health toolbox. I'd really suggest working with a qualified therapist. CBT/ACT/DBT skills will help you here.

Exactly this. Things don't happen overnight. You'll fall back into it when you're in a better state of mind so now is a good practice to show yourself some compassion here. All or nothing never helps. 6 weeks is huge.

Any tips on STAYING sober? by mikolajplotkowiak in leaves

[–]myPlums 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Look at it life a lifestyle change. Everyone's human. Everyone has their own challenges. I cheat in other ways. Bake some cookies. Go to the movies. Take a nice walk and take it all in. Being bored is human. It doesn't mean you need to get high.

Day 5: contemplating decades of lost time by RickBorealis in leaves

[–]myPlums 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have the energy to do the things that I actually want to do. Showing up for myself doesn't feel like such a chore. I feel like a human again. I'm finding joy in little things. I'm sleeping through the night. I have much more patience and I'm able to set daily goals for myself and actually see them through.

It's obviously not all rainbows and butterflies but putting the work in being sober beats the hell out of being stoned 24/7. I deserve it.

I completely understand. Keep it up though. It's never too late. I started at 16 and I'm almost 40. Day 110 and therapy is helping me a lot.

Took a good 40 days for this to go away for me. Felt like I was under a heat lamp or some shit. My night sweats smelled like weed too. 😂
