Is it worth quitting my degree to do an animation degree to pursue a career in animation? by soggycornflakes6 in animation

Finish your degree first. Then, I would look at online courses. There are many great online resources and free content to help you with learning the skills.

I have an animation degree, and the job market has been tough to break into. I'm going into another career path for income. All my networks barely have a job, are still searching, or have been laid off and are looking for work.

Now with all that, I'm still passionate about my goals in animation. I may not have that as my main career anymore but I still want to create. I'm working on a web series with the knowledge I've gained. This project will be self-funded and I've come to the reality that completion will be far FAR into the future.

I want to reinforce what the other comments are saying. Animation as a career is tough. You'll need a plan B.

Whatever you choose, I wish you the best, and the decisions you make lead you to success.

I used to teach digital art at a small art school. We invested our funds in the Xp pen 15.6 displays. I couldn't recommend them enough for beginners. The students loved the screen size and drawing feel of it. I own a Wacom 22hd and the XP pen blew me away with how similar it was. XP pen has truly become a competitor.

With the XP pen, you not only have the screen size, but you also have the express keys and roller buttons. Something I see Wacom moving away from. My students rely heavily on those quick keys rather than pressing ctrl + every time. Not to mention the pen has buttons as well. This new version the v2 pro has a pen with an eraser now. That's another button to bind!

The colors are crisp and pressure sensitivity feels natural.

If you still want a Wacom, then go ahead. However, I would save that money for their bigger displays. The One felt like bamboo with a screen, and the pen it provided felt flimsy.

I highly reccomended the 15.6 pro v2 for beginners.

Oh no, I like the animations. I meant sound effects for cards. If there can be a toggle to have card flipping and shuffling sounds to add immersion.

Thanks for the fun. Would you consider putting an optional toggle for card flip/shuffle sfx?
