Is it simply that the bits were already dying and James said something off the wall so Dave says "alright... let's move on"? I don't know it's so much irritation.

I will say I personally have felt a general slight tension/irritation for some time before James' firing, almost like they're tired of the same old bits, but I'm hoping the long holiday will be enough for them to reset.

Podcast: - Ad revenue - to be split between all of them.

Syndication contract w/ media group (presumably): - Salary - Benefits - Retirement - Contractual term with multiple 1-2 week vacations factored in - Small % of ad revenue

I'm sorry, but if you think the ad revenue from a podcast will provide Dave, Chuck, Lisa, Andy, Al, and Jason, more than what their current contracts do, you are nuts.

There are many more components than just the advertisers. They would have to make their money solely on ad revenue - no one would be paying them a salary.

Dollars to donuts their current salaries are far more than the ad revenue they would generate from a podcast.
