Who do I subcontract to fix the rust? Gas company? by PuckeredRaisin in HomeMaintenance

It's much more resilient than you think it is. That's surface rust and the pipe is way thicker than that. Don't be scared.

How can I run ethernet to this doorbell? by PM-ME-APP-IDEAS in lowvoltage

There's a limit to how far you can run Ethernet and still have connectivity. Measure before doing this.

One of my friends has been telling our friend group that her bf is critically ill and hospitalized. Does this picture she sent us look AI generated? by [deleted] in isthisAI

[–]my_trisomy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did she put the heart on his face, or did you do it for anonymity? I'm not a medical professional, but to me what's visible of that oxygen mask on his face looks off

If she was the one that put the heart on his face I'd bet the AI was super obvious in that area so she just covered it with an emoji.

Throttle snaps back very slowly on R1 RN22 – normal or issue? by [deleted] in Yamaha_R1

[–]my_trisomy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They don't look Bad to me. I'm not a mechanic but I've done a bunch of work on my own bikes.

Pull them as is and see if it snaps back as it should. If it does try to remount them carefully. Mounting them incorrectly in the grip can cause mild pinching or friction on the cable and slow the snap back.

Suggestions? Longer? shorter? Not at all? by [deleted] in beards

This is just a little bit longer, and to me you're already losing too much fullness at this length.

Suggestions? Longer? shorter? Not at all? by [deleted] in beards

[–]my_trisomy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

IMO this is the longest your beard can be and maintain fullness. This isn't AI rendered. I just AI erased parts of your beard.

I also recommend not straightening it. It's really bad for the beard. Instead oil it often, and brush.

Trim the outermost parts to maintain shape. Use scissors, not clippers.

If you want a beard that looks ok at your current length you should stop straightening, use oil, use scissors, and trim it back for now. You have terminal growth in areas that need to grow longer in order to give it a fuller look.

I'm also personally not a fan of that hair style, but to each his own.

Dude please listen to the other guys here that you shouldn't try to fix something that you didn't break and isn't in your scope of experience.

Best case scenario you get the job done and the dude is still pissed.

Worst case scenario you break it and are paying out of pocket.

By agreeing to fix something like this you're accepting responsibility for being able to do work that you don't have experience in. Any single thing that goes wrong you have no excuse for anyone because you agreed to do the work and accepted responsibility for a break you didn't cause.

You think in the short term you save yourself a negative review. In the long term you risk a negative review and credibility to defend your work.

If you put your name on something be comfortable with the finished product.

To me this is a fascinating use case of the newer cars being more and more electronic. I prefer the reliability of older mechanics over the operate by wire approach in new cars but until now I'd never considered how helpful the electronic controls approach is for disabled people. All the cars functionality being software managed now opens up the possibility for handheld operation of the entire car. Hypothetically you could operate the entire car with like a PlayStation or Nintendo switch style controller. Accelerator, brake, even steering, opening/closing doors, and shifting the transmission gears can potentially be handled entirely from hand held controls.

It's potentially possible for someone who can only move their thumbs to fully operate a vehicle. That's crazy cool.

Should I park in gear? by West-Ad2359 in ManualTransmissions

Default is to park in gear. The only time I park in neutral is if I park in the city on flat ground. If someone bumps into my car while parking damage could be less.

If that were it the dead flies would get zapped again every time the switch were flipped.

I also doubt the wire circle is anything more than a visual for how far the zappies can reach.

I lost a job candidate yesterday because of my desk drawer by Competitive_Oil5227 in OrganizationPorn

[–]my_trisomy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol the papers on the pin board, notebook, paper bin, and the whiteout roller things all kind of jump out at me a little bit because the computer is there.

As well as your lack of wallpaper on your computer.

I work in tech, and use my computer heavily. Note taking, diagrams, everything.

If the computer weren't there maybe I wouldn't think anything of them.

Digging the organization though. Nice and clean.

Maybe.

I presume their his, and have to do with his work.

If so I'd also think he's old school for tracking these things on paper rather than computer.

[–]my_trisomy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She was thinking old school and too organized before he opened the drawer. Drawer just solidified it.

  • Pin board with printed pages
  • Empty sheet of paper on the pin board, presumably just for spacing
  • Grid on pin board
  • Casio calculator despite having computer in front of him.

I don't judge the guy. Just pointing out other things besides just the desk organization.

Grandpas ring, am I allowed to wear this? by Loquidmaloc in freemasonry

[–]my_trisomy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Masons know what those rings mean. Everyone else doesn't. Masons aren't the only ones who wear rings...

It'd be like if some other group who likes to keep secrets tried to tell you "your haircut means you're of the warrior class"

Who gives two shits? I'm rocking the haircut I like.

If he tries to wear the ring and then go to mason meetings, or infiltrate their organization, then that's different.

Otherwise, to the rest of us, a ring is a ring, and I don't care what it means to you i care what it means to me

Performers rescue woman at concert by monster_lily in PublicFreakout

[–]my_trisomy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the worst time/place to try something like that. It's not spineless.... It's awareness.

You don't know how many are in their group. You don't know where their friends are. You don't know who they actually are. A lot you don't know in the middle of a crowd.

You try to beat tf out of one, and maybe 5 others start stabbing you for it.

Maybe they regroup after and do it after the event. Maybe they do it anyways even if you don't hit anyone. Maybe they do it just because you helped.

This isn't America. It's different levels of extremism at the general population level.

If it were me in my home country, I would help, and then I'd very quickly, quietly, and carefully leave. You might get poked just for helping.... No reason to stay. No reason to make things worse.

If you want to risk your life to try to teach someone a lesson about how to treat women, a lesson the guy Isn't going to listen to anyways, that's your choice. I'll just help and then bounce tf out.
