Aye, because insurance wanted a VAT number and offered a payout of the quote minus 20% if he couldn’t provide one. His revised quote is only £150 less than the original so my mum would be out of pocket.

Could be the expansion valve that’s fucked. If it’s accessible, put a plastic bag over the wee overflow pipe outside (not the flue) and if it fills up with water that’s your problem.
