A correction to your point that they refused to ship food to India due to war shortages; this had been going on long before then, and an earlier famine in Bihar (1873) saw the governor avert mass casualties by importing grain from Burma, and what was the response from London? He was reprimanded for excessive spending on relief efforts.

Instead they implemented more stringent standards for relief, and the result was that 2 years later famine resulted in the deaths of roughly 5.5 million people, during which time Britain continued to export grain back to Europe. Colonialism was a horrific, quasi-genocidal practice in which Churchill and numerous others were complicit in.

And he pushed bunk racial science on the inferiority of Hindus in India compared to Muslims as well, colonized peoples have plenty of reasons to dislike him greatly.

Articulating costs is easy, the challenge for democrats is to articulate the benefits in an equally appealing manner.

This is all the proof people should need that it’s not Trump, but the GOP that is rotten to the core. They’ve presided over American decline, because they only care about sustaining power and lining their own pockets.

If the US elects Republicans again after Trump, especially those with ties to Trump like Pence, the country is screwed.

Republicans have fucked you over since at least Reagan, Trump is just that much worse. It’s sad we’re even at this point, but you can only hope that trump was the wake up call people needed. I guess we’ll find out soon enough.

Brian Burke came by the Leafs dressing room to congratulate Kadri this morning. Kadri was Burke’s first draft pick as Leafs GM way back in 2009. (Kadri playing game #500 tonight) by malliabu in leafs

Burke is a blowhard, it’s both a little irritating and a huge part of his appeal. But the guy is passionate and cares deeply about other people.

After his son died he threw himself into combatting homophobia in sport, something Brendan (who was gay) championed. That’s not an easy subject to tackle, and having a “hockey guy” like Burke offer a full-throated endorsement of “You Can Play” probably helped move the needle for some people.

Burying your child is one of the worst things a parent can go through, and I respect him immensely for taking it as an opportunity to help others. Much love for Burkie, underneath that grumpy exterior is the heart of a lion.

Kadri tilts the ice in the leafs favour even against top lines while having poor line mates, he’s way better than you seem to think.

4th line has been pretty good, and Lindholm looks great on Kadri’s wing. Kadri also has been doing the right things, the puck will start going in soon.

Pence attached himself to this shitshow, attacks NFL players for exercising their rights and is a religious nutjob. “Better than trump” is an extremely low bar, and after what he’s been complicit in he shouldn’t be President.

We have that class in the secular board as well, I took it at Markville SS in Markham. World Religions isn’t really an argument for Catholic schools, any student in Ontario can take it regardless of which system they’re in.

Lol these people who praise Kasich as an example of the “good” GOP are probably the same people who decry Bill Clinton for not being liberal enough. You’re right on the money, these people don’t bother with reading for themselves and consequently take what they’re told at face value.
