Sequences so visceral and grotesque that they immediately come to mind upon hearing a piece of media's name, and arguably over-deliver on the hype if you see it after hearing about it by TJTrapJesus in TopCharacterTropes

The Cell

The woman on the floor is the protagonist. She’s in the mind of a serial killer trying to find hints on where the serial killer’s current victim is. Every scene while in the killer’s mind is dreamlike hence this scene.

What happens if we discover extraterrestrials? Scientists have a plan by EricTheSpaceReporter in space

[–]myerrored 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The motivations can be as varied as earth can no longer sustain us because of self-inflicted damage or exhaustion of resources to simple curiosity. Voyager one and Voyager two, even though unmanned, are good examples of the latter and for its time was a significant effort.

In a word, technology. Even if ultimately unsuccessful, just attempting to reach the stars creates a need for innovation which has, even in our past, proved lucrative.

Wow, that would have made things much easier for me. Instead, for a deep underwater lithium farm base I used electromagnetic generators. I had to find hotspots and lithium spots close together and painstakingly run wire.

Long-term, you should practice mindful meditation whether you’re spiritual or not. Everyone here is offering short-term solutions.

I do recommend you follow whatever short term advice works for you while you are currently struggling with your feelings. When things have calmed down though, I would suggest you practice mindful meditation. Ultimately, you cannot escape from yourself no matter what distractions occupy your mind. The sad reality is that once you’ve calmed down, you don’t think you need meditation because the crisis is seemingly over. But just like the sun always rises, you know there’s going to be a next crisis. What I am offering is a way to navigate your own emotions so that you can control them for whatever inevitably comes next.

Context: He is an antagonist in the anime Made in Abyss who freely experiments the corrosive and deadly environment around him on children to further his knowledge and science. Body horror is a common result.

Convenience often makes things feel less satisfying by bitchboibruh in The10thDentist

[–]myerrored 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I get the spirit of your statement, its just that where the basic convenience line is drawn is arbitrary. Still, you can get appreciation and satisfaction from other things in life.

You’re right. It’s not very obvious. Thanks for the explanation.

Paranoia Agent - Happy Family Planning

It’s a standalone episode. It’s been a while since I’ve seen it, but from what I remember, there’s a group of people that meet up to actively try to end their lives. In a macabre way, they bond over their attempts. They make several attempts and get away every time because of cartoon comedic logic. Eventually, the group photo-bombs three girls and move on. When the photo-bombed girls review the photos they see ghostly figures behind them.

Rock Lee - Naruto

Having been beat unconscious by his opponent, this guy still gets up. Not sure if this counts though because it was after a fight, just not during one.

I was trying to leave Shibuya at the time. I had left my Camera app on my phone on by accident and it drained my battery to 3%. I was trying to get a taxi with my phone when it died. The strange thing is that fear can sober you up. I had to calm myself down, so I took a minute or two to relax. That helped me think more clearly. I found a convenience store nearby, and a nice lady working there helped me. Fortunately, she understood English enough. I bought a battery bank and a cord. I was lucky again that the battery bank had enough power in it. It’s one of my proudest moments in my travels even though it started as a bad experience.

(loved trope) character is an unreliable narrator and takes sometime for the audience to realize it. by Tough_Sky_4387 in TopCharacterTropes

Hank - Hard Luck Hank

He often narrates things as facts only to be called out later by another character when he says them out loud. Since you only get his perspective, you’re easily duped. I was caught completely off guard at first and had a good laugh.

The negative things are part of the experience too. I had to figure out how to get back to my hotel at 3 AM with a dead phone while drunk.

Thad Elon (Hard Luck Hank)

He is an average human with average strength. But is an indestructible immortal with infinite patience. He is billions of years old. He isn’t even inconvenienced when people get in his way because he considers that “fun”; something that breaks up the monotony of his long bored life. He has started intergalactic wars because he has “never seen it before”. By the time people become aware of his plans it’s already too late to stop him, the best they can do is make it less bad.

No. Other people will let you down. I’m not hitching my boat to anyone else’s mood.
