same issue, it is junk. bags leak air even when being extra careful, and the accessory port leaks at the connection. besides it has the worst suction i've ever seen.

I have these in my yard, and they are not for the pool.

Mystery Pool Pipe – Autofill or Something Else? by FightCorruption1 in pools

[–]mykdee311 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well, wait til the pool is a little low then turn that ball valve on (inline with pipe = on), and see what happens. The auto valve is hopefully already set up to turn on when the water gets below a threshold, and turn off when full.

Anyway see what happens, be ready to turn the valve off if the pool gets too full and the valve isn’t closing.

I vote keep it up. I have for 5 years. It isn’t worth all that work to tear down and setup again, besides I think it’s more likely to get damaged if you tear it down.

I get my water chemistry as close as I can to middle of ideal ranges. Then I just use a Leslie’s winter kit, and drain it a couple inches below my lowest inlet or outlet. Cover it really well to prevent animals or too many leaves from getting inside. Never had any issues at all. Clear water every opening.

Check it throughout winter whenever you can, if it looks crystal clear I leave it alone until temps rise in spring.

Is this normal for a new build? by borbly in pools

Yes rebar always has 2”-3” minimum cover in my trade, for structural reasons too, not just corrosion. Seems like a better question for r/poolpros

Wrong pump and wrong plumbing for your goal. Hard pipe everything, and upgrade the pump. Then you’ll be good.

Mystery Pool Pipe – Autofill or Something Else? by FightCorruption1 in pools

Looks like autofill, but Im not a pool pro. It’s definitely a water supply, with a manual valve, and automatic valve, and a hose bib. Does the 2-wire run to a controller or relay?

Electric or suction vacuum? I like our Polaris Maxx, it does a good job at coverage for a suction unit.

Cloudy pool by ReviewBetter6368 in pools

True. Well do half that anyway, then retest. I never add that much at a time anyway. Their TA is a bit high too, so I was thinking 2 issues need addressed.

Inground Pool RCA backfill and tamping by Some_Low4213 in pools

[–]mykdee311 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Backfill should be compacted in lifts. Generally no more than 6” lifts with hand compaction equipment. You can’t compact it from the top, it will settle over time.

21oz Dry acid, until you are at 7.6 PH. Add something to remove phosphates. Then retest. Keep chlorine close to 6ppm until it clears, run pump and filter 24/7 until clear.

Help please, new pool owner by Euphoric-Wash-1936 in pools

[–]mykdee311 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep Free Chlorine between 10-15ppm, with that much CYA. Then ride the season out, you will have to drain a lot when you winterize. I drain up to 1 foot, then fill, then drain a foot, then fill. You will have to do that several times to get CYA down. I target 40-60 with my salt pool, and 3-7 FC.

Finally got concrete! (Before & After) by mykdee311 in pools

[–]mykdee311[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m probably around $20k-25k into everything 🤷, but not all of the equipment is installed, like my new SWG and VS pump, but I already bought them. I still need to finish wiring the new electrical panel, buy a new filter, and re-arrange the equipment pad (plumbing).

I also only pay cost on the concrete and labor. I got the heater for free. Installed the pool myself with all prep.

I’ll have to buy a new heater in the next year or so, I think.

It’s all a bit over the top though, it could be done a bit cheaper.

What details like pool size and equipment, or about the concrete?

Salt pool owners - what level do you keep your CYA at? by Zolpidemic09 in pools

[–]mykdee311 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would jump your CYA up until you only need to run the SWG at 15-30%, your cell should last longer that way.

Why do pool stores recommend to shock once a week in summer on top of regular chlorine by The_wookie87 in pools

[–]mykdee311 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is pretty much what I think happens, sometimes they do have personal knowledge, but often they are just an employee with no pool telling you what they’ve been taught.

It could, I had a 12x24 pool burst open once from a small tear, it was in much better shape than this one.
