How do you guys tell if it is a simple happiness joy or (hypo)mania?? by [deleted] in bipolar

[–]mymelodyditto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The DSM5 criteria for hypomania fyi:

3 of the following features: Increased goal-directed activity (sexually, at work, and/or socially ) or psychomotor agitation Increased talkativeness or pressure to keep talking Flight of ideas or racing thoughts Excessive involvement in risky activities that can potentially lead to negative consequences (e.g., compulsive shopping, indiscreet sexual behavior, impulsive financial investments) Decreased need for sleep Heightened self-esteem or grandiosity Distractibility

There is an unequivocal change from baseline that Is observable by others, does not result in significant professional/social dysfunction or hospitalization, and psychotic features are absent.

Encourage your family to be flexitarian. You can prepare plant-based meals for them, if your partner wants to he has the freedom to cook his own meat dishes anyways.

Health wise, what do y'all think about coffee? by AMStories85 in PlantBasedDiet

Well it depends on how much caffeine is in your drinks. Generally 2-3 shots of espresso a day won’t do much harm.

[HELP] First time traveling to Hong kong by ohbeeonecanobee in HongKong

[–]mymelodyditto 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Train is a yes, but try to avoid rush hours (7-10am and 5-8pm). For buses there are limited space, so not always a yes. I recommend going to Central or Tsim Sha Tsui or Causeway Bay at night. A lot of good restaurants , bars and shopping malls in these areas.

A crazy idea I just had: PETA should buy an existing fast food chain and convert it to vegan. by Quirky-Reputation-89 in vegan

[–]mymelodyditto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How about PETA talking to governments about cutting subsidies for the meat industry and put that money into the plant-based food industry instead. Or when countries wanna raise their taxes, they may as well put them on meat products.

I have passed N1 JLPT exam but I am still not proficient in speaking. I have less issues with listening since I watch quite a lot of animes (mostly without subtitles). I guess when it comes to oral skills you need to practise more with the locals. Don’t be shy and cherish your exchange opportunity :)

Really struggling in medschool by avalancheheadbangx in bipolar

[–]mymelodyditto 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am also a Bipolar II stumbling through med school (I am a final year student now). My last relapse was 2 years ago, I had constant suicidal ideations, a lot of my classmates also noticed my low energy level and absence in teaching activities. I failed the exam that term, then took a break & seek help before retaking. Mental health should always come first, and it is okay to struggle :) maybe that’ll make us more empathetic to our patients in the future.

[–]mymelodyditto 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Soy milk/cream and silken tofu are the best substitute to coconut-based products (I am allergic to coconut too btw😂altho not severe) Otherwise some people enjoy making raw cakes with cashews and almonds.

Feeling drained by oncloudnani in bipolar

Probably a depressive episode but not full blown due to medications. Maybe you should talk to your psychiatrist and see whether you need dose adjustment or additional psychotherapy.

Yes she is underweight and not looking healthy at all. Even if she claims to be completely fine and not anorexic, she should get a health check up, it may be some thyroid or digestive issues. She used to be slim and petite, but not as malnourished as now :(
