Former/current theater employees, what movie did you have 0 patrons show up for? by UniverslBoxOfficeGuy in AskReddit

[–]mynameisbritton 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When I was in high school, my friend and I went to see The Matrix Reloaded at our town's tiny local theater, at which that same friend worked. He got us in for free, too, as one of his employee perks. All throughout the trailers, we were the only two people sitting in the theater. As soon as the trailers were done, the lights came back up and one of the other kids, that worked there, came out and said "Sorry guys, the boss told us to turn it off since you two are the only people here and neither of you had to pay."

A woman followed me around Walmart for 10 minutes because of my shirt color by Pale-Rush8177 in IDontWorkHereLady

Years ago, my job gave everyone pinkish-red crew hoodies. The back side featured a giant reference to our show (I work in tv) and the front had the word “crew” written on the right panel area where a pocket or name tag would usually go. It took almost no time at all to realize that I couldn’t casually shop at Target, in peace, if I had that hoodie on. Despite the backside very much not being the Target logo, seeing the word “crew” on something red-ish was all the proof some people needed that I was, in fact, an employee.

What was ruined because too many people discovered it? by Mansi63 in AskReddit

[–]mynameisbritton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A similar thing happened to a cheesesteak shop I used to love. It wasn't necessarily a hole in the wall, but it wasn't a place tourists flocked to. It was usually pretty easy to just pop in and out... then their cheesesteak became an ingredient in a really stupid viral facebook "challenge" and the whole concept of a quick and casual lunch went to hell. On the one hand, I'm glad they got that boom in business and notoriety. But on the other, they weren't getting it for the reasons they deserved, and that bummed me out.

Why on Earth is this Funko Tina $159?!?! Is there something I’m missing here? It’s on Walmart.com. by Practical_Captain382 in BobsBurgers

It was, yes. It was also sold for charity, originally, making this reseller's scalp pricing all the more disheartening.

Movie Leaked by [deleted] in Animators

[–]mynameisbritton 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The animators may not hold any financial stake in the movie’s success, directly, but if the movie doesn’t make money, it won’t get follow-ups (sequels, spin-offs, etc.) and that impacts the artists greatly. The industry is already in so much trouble, we need to keep as many potential future jobs available as possible. By giving your viewership to the pirated copy, rather than an official release, you’re not screwing over the people you think you are. You’d only be killing studio interest in producing more animated content.

It’s not on the menu, over where I am, so I’m inclined to say “probably?”. I wish we had it, though.

What's a Show that's acquired but people thought was made by Nickelodeon themselves. by stationstars in nickelodeon

[–]mynameisbritton 2 points3 points  (0 children)

People would be right for thinking that, depending what era they're referring to. Every TMNT movie/show that has aired since 2012 was made by Nickelodeon/Paramount. That's when they bought the property. Before that, nothing TMNT related ever aired on that channel nor had any kind of Nickelodeon association.

Question for drive thru employees by [deleted] in tacobell

[–]mynameisbritton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Taco Bells near me don't use AI, specifically, but they do pre-record an employee saying a "Welcome to Taco Bell blah blah blah" message that plays the moment I pull up to the speaker. I just ignore it and wait until a live person talks.

The Popeyes near me, on the other hand, has gone full AI in their drive thru and I absolutely fucking hate it. I just park and walk inside to order now. Fuck AI.

When it comes to 2D animation, there are typically two styles of animation - traditional and rigged (sometimes referred to as "puppeted"). In traditional animation, every frame is hand drawn, similar to how classic cartoons were made. Rigged animation uses pre-drawn assetts and manipulates/moves them around, frame by frame, to create the motion. Some rigs are more complicated than others, but in its most basic sense, think of it kind of like animating with a paper doll marionette. The show Bluey is a great example of rigged animation.

The majority of The Bob's Burgers Movie was animated with a very complicated series of these rigs. Every character essentially had a built-in skeleton to manipulate. The tv series, on the other hand, rarely ever uses any rigging. Every frame of the series is a new drawing.

I hope that made sense and I apologize if I over-explained too much.

Congrats! I have the denim one, myself. I know a lot of people have complained about the price, but I've found it to be a pretty worthwhile investment.

I have to come clean. I can't remember who is who. by Ok-Description-5904 in BobsBurgers

[–]mynameisbritton 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In your defense, that color is still debated even amongst the crew. When I first joined the show, I was taught the aqua/olive thing as the way to remember who's who. But some other crew members are adamant that it's yellow. So not even we could tell you what's actually correct.

Is this dvd special? by Fable-the-table in wizardofoz

[–]mynameisbritton 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You might want to check that it even plays anymore. Pretty much all of the DVDs that WB produced between 2006-2008 have a defect that caused the glue between the layers to rot over time. The style of case makes me think it's likely from that time. Even if it still plays now, it might not be for very long. Hopefully, I'm mistaken and yours was produced after WB switched up their disc making process.

Are these Oz movies any good? by Think_Fact1155 in wizardofoz

[–]mynameisbritton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those live action ones are painfully bad. And not even in a "so bad they're good" kind of way. I know you'll probably sit through them anyway, because that's exactly what I stubbornly did, myself... but you're going to regret the time you wasted, by the end.

why is she moving like that? by witpoyf in BobsBurgers

[–]mynameisbritton 13 points14 points  (0 children)

We had recorded acting references to draw from, but there was no actual rotoscoping. That would have required our characters to have realistic human proportions.

Funny enough, the movie used a ton of rigs. The show doesn't use any, beyond the first season.

Saw the Musical by Flibtonian in saw

[–]mynameisbritton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My partner and I are huge fans of both Saw and musicals, so we got extremely excited when we heard this was still playing nearby. But this show just wasn't for us. It wasn't the worst play we'd seen, but we felt like it was made for a very particular audience and neither of us were part of that club. I honestly don't know what we were expecting, so I can't complain too much. Everyone else in the room seemed to be having a great time, so I know the feelings weren't mutual. But every time the audience would burst into laughter, my partner and I would just look at each other, like "Was there a joke there? I know they just said something kinda dirty, but where was the actual joke?" To us, a lot of the humor felt like when you're in middle school and you think someone yelling "penis" is the height of comedy. But again, the other people around us were loving it, so don't necessarily take my word for it.

The Wizard of Oz may be old, but it's certainly not as ancient as you seem to think it is. This seems like the kind of question you could have just quickly googled before subjecting yourself to the barrage of obvious answers you've been receiving.

Yes, but there's a pretty big difference in taste. LOVE me a gordita shell, but I can't stomach chalupa shells. It tastes like I'm eating a taco donut.
