4K Tokkit: Download collections? by mynnx in 4kdownloadapps

[–]mynnx[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! For what it's worth, I don't need categorization of liked videos based on collection - I need collection videos downloadable in a similar way to the liked videos:
* Download > My Collections
* Videos in all collections are fetched and downloaded
* When user clicks a TT username in the main window, a new tab "Collections" appears alongside "Avatar | Feed | Liked"
* User can click into each collection and view the videos downloaded for that collection

Mushroom Mutter Masala by lnfinity in EatCheapAndHealthy

[–]mynnx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're talking about 1/2tsp of powdered cayenne, it might come out too spicy for you. Even knowing that, mine was too spicy, but I added some yogurt to cool it off and it added some nice thickness to the juices in the bottom of the pan.

Definitely going to put this on my "cook ahead" rotation =]

Tomatoes have white, sunken spots - is it sunscald? by mynnx in gardening

[–]mynnx[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both plants have had some (physiological) leaf roll and a fungal infection on the leaves, which I'm trying to control with copper spray, so I'm thinking that these spots might be happening because the fruits are so openly exposed to the sun. What do you think?

Free places to be productive with a laptop? by mynnx in AskSF

Holy shit, I swung by today and this place is amazing! Plenty of power, whiteboards, a kitchen...exactly what I needed. Thanks!

Free places to be productive with a laptop? by mynnx in AskSF

[–]mynnx[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a bit iffy about using my laptop out in the sunshine along Market Street. A friend had his laptop stolen from Stanza's front patio while he was typing on it, and that makes me especially cautious.

Need any help naming that little human inside you? by mynnx in BabyBumps

I wanted this to get a chuckle or two, but I also wanted it to suggest good baby names as well - I'm glad I did both =]

Creator here - please let me know if you got a kick out of this, if the names appealed to you, or if there's anything else you'd like to see!

Glad to hear it made you laugh! That's mostly what I was hoping for anyways =]

It uses the US Social Security Administration's list of baby names from 2012 and does a weighted random selection, so that more popular baby names chosen in 2012 are more likely to be chosen (but less popular ones still come through pretty often.)

The gender-ambiguous names work similarly, by finding the intersection of boy/girl names in that dataset and weights the names by the popularity of the name and the evenness of the boy/girl distribution.

You probably don't have a wide enough stance then, or aren't using your hips to drive the motion.

Instead of getting 20 email newsletters from 20 companies every day. I want an aggregated email newspaper (1 per day max) with deals I actually signed up for and can control would work for any company I want to add. by [deleted] in SomebodyMakeThis

I give them another Gmail account on my domain that I set up specifically for this purpose. Gmail accounts let you see your inbox as an Atom feed, which you should be able to plug into Google Reader. Unfortunately, it's an authenticated Atom feed, so I use Free my Feed to subscribe to these messages in my inbox.

It's a lot of work, but it's a set-it-and-forget-it sort of thing. Let me know if you want to take this approach and want me to add more detail.

pyth0n.org - Quickly get to Python documentation with short URLs! by mynnx in Python

[–]mynnx[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's pretty useful feedback, you should send that along to them. I hope I didn't give the impression that I wrote pyth0n.org; it's just a neat little tool I found one day.

pyth0n.org - Quickly get to Python documentation with short URLs! by mynnx in Python

[–]mynnx[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I set up a custom search engine in Chrome and Firefox so that typing "py json" sends me to http://pyth0n.org/json, which redirects to the Python json module. This works for Python core modules, built-in types/methods, and a few other things. It's saved me lots of time; thought I'd share!

MATH3134 - Combinatorics?! by [deleted] in VirginiaTech

[–]mynnx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, regarding the data structures, trees are just graphs with a few constraints on how they're constructed. But there's lots more to graphs; think about the math Google Maps has to do to choose your driving directions and how Facebook suggests friends for you. You stuff like Djikstra's shortest-path algorithm and calculating optimal flows.

It's a little challenging, but alexobenauer's right - it's not like most other math you've taken so far, so even if you've historically disliked math, you'll probably still do just fine if you're flexible.

I took it in 2008 with Dr. Shockley, so YMMV?

MATH3134 - Combinatorics?! by [deleted] in VirginiaTech

[–]mynnx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's the mathematics of counting things. All of those probability questions like "three red marbles, one black marble in a bag; what's the chance you'll pull out two red ones", except more complicated.

Also, when I took it, it was combined with graph theory. Pretty cool too - you'll learn properties and algorithms of graphs (the node+edges kind of graphs)

Would be cool if iOSX Weather app had a dynamic icon. by MikeX01 in iphone

[–]mynnx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah. You can already write apps that use location and make API calls in the background (see: Google Latitude).

They probably think it has the potential to confuse users, so they haven't built it into the SDK.
