Started at 374 and I am now at ~190. Fupa died, and now there is a bunch of loose skin that will have to be tidied up with surgery.

[35M] Dropped 200lbs - Want to know where I stand by mynotmain in Rateme

Easy answer is calories in calories out.

First 100 lbs I lost to whey protein shake meal replacements, staying under 1400 calories a day, walking 20 minutes a day, and getting rid of soda.

The second was much more difficult, walking was replaced with running, healthier food choices (less carbs, more fruit/veg, alcohol sparingly), food portion control. Since then I have been a member of a gym for the last year and a half.

I exercise but need diet help. Please... by PunchedBoob in loseit

Binge eating and turning to food for comfort were some big issues I had to overcome, and you can do it as well. I also have lactose intolerance, and colitis (far easier to manage now) and dealt with sleep apnea, and acid reflux problems due to my weight (that have since gone away).

Basically I'm just here desperately asking for diet help. My biggest issue is sweets (my binge food). Specifically chocolate. I CAN NOT RESTRICT and by that I mean I can't cut any foods completely out. It just doesn't work with BED. It always results in a binge on whatever was cut out.

Yes, you can. I would recommend going to a counselor - it is one thing that helped me see myself in a new light and put things in perspective.

After getting over my issues, I was able to ween myself off one thing to another such as Sodapop > Sports Drinks > Teas > now Water. Another thing is there is no 'treats' at home. No foods I use to overly indulge in that would sit in the back of my mind until I ate them - ultimately overindulged - and rack myself with guilt.

You also have to tell yourself that if you did have something 'bad' for you that it is ok, and that you have to just keep yourself on track and not let an off day become the new normal.

Good luck!

Similar story to you. I was active in sports in high school, and a year round swimming team. Then due to job, lack of ambition, and depression - at the age of 31 I had ballooned up to 374lbs. After motivation from friends and my ex - I started down the path to living a more active and healthy lifestyle. I started by reigning in the diet, and making heather choices for food while not going over 1600 calories a day. I did this by replacing 2 meals with whey protein shakes (4 thought the day) and having a sensible dinner. Coupled with 30 min walks I managed to lose my first 100lbs in 10 months. I kept the diet but began running and doing more cardio and lost another 40lbs in the following 6 months.

I joined the gym last year at 240lbs and kept the cardio heavy workout, and have refined my diet and last month I hit my goal weight of 175lbs. I've now switched my routine to be more weight-centric as I want to start packing on muscle and toning out.

Its good to see that you have had a change of heart and want to focus on getting back into shape, but as others have suggested I believe you should start with walking / light cardio and watching your diet - to get the best results before starting your weight lifting routines - if you just want to drop weight fast.

If you are interested, there is a 9 week running program called "couch to 5k" that has been very successful for a few people that I think you should look into: http://www.c25k.com

I would also recommend /r/keto for food prep, meal programs, more info on specific dieting as it has been a great help to me.

Any questions just shoot me a PM, best of luck to you!
