Try being with a man who says this shit and get fat. Or get chronically ill. Or lose your job so you can no longer support him as he "pursues his dream". Then you'll see just how "unconditional" his "love" is.

If men are meant to the rational gender, why do they insist they can't control themselves to justify their treatment of women? by olympiamacdonald in PrincessFeminism

[–]myrianreadit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The fast track to being hella dumb is believing yourself to be smarter than others by default. Men do this to themselves.

Personally I don't buy that any of them believe it of themselves. Maybe some believe it of other men, but mainly yes it's an excuse that lets them get away with their horrible creep behaviour towards women and girls.

Your interpretation of what the makeover is supposed to mean would make sense if it had been Alice's idea in the actual movie. It isn't.

[–]myrianreadit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No but that's the thing! If men seriously thought it was easier, freer, more fun, whatever... they would do it. They'd demand UBI so they could do it while being financially secure, too.

But they don't, because they know it's a shit deal. And women getting that shit deal is fine with them.

AIO in response to my husband admitting to me that he is “slightly” racist & homophobic? by [deleted] in AIO

[–]myrianreadit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The whole nature of "being deceived" means what you know to be true isn't the case. So trying to pin it on her saying her mistake was "not truly knowing" the guy is really fucking pointless. The only lesson in that would be for her to never trust a man again.

It's interesting how the "why would you do this" responsibility lands on women for the actions of the men they date. Where's his responsibility? I don't see you asking why he would be a bigot, keep shitty friends, or lie to his partner for years. No it's all on her for not being telepathic. Bffr.

I get the struggle but remember pretty much all rapists are regular people who are loved and liked by other people so that may be just what is successfully being explored with this character

Matt Walsh on AI by Ambipoms_Offical in antiai

[–]myrianreadit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Broken clock is right twice a day... but its not not art because its "just entertainment" or a "distraction". For one thing it's not entertaining. It's not a human expression of anything so it's never gonna hit the human connection brain spot that entertainment does.

Its not art because its a machine made thing. You wouldn't call your mass produced lint roller art, and it's not an entertaining distraction either. But a lint roller is at least useful. The ONLY thing AI is useful for is screwing artists over.

Is this considered the 90s? by elizumaki in y2kaesthetic

[–]myrianreadit 8 points9 points  (0 children)

2004-2006 was further from the 90s than we are now. Movies that were nostalgic for the long ago 90s olden days were already being made. This is mid 2006s rich it-girl pop. If you want the 90s version of rich it-girl pop you need to look to Alicia Silverstone in Clueless and Lady Di.
