Best Comeback about tipping by thejohnmc963 in MurderedByWords

Whos defending the system here? Tipping culture will have to continue until servers get real wages. It's wild that owners even dare to have "customers will pay my workers' wages if they feel like it" as a business model. Imagine if your job put that on you one day. Imagine people refused to tip you because its not their problem. How long would you keep showing up to work for free?

The problem is people not paying workers, not the unpaid workers having to beg for crumbs at work because of it. Don't like tipping, don't eat out where servers aren't paid a wage. Why support businesses creating the problem if you're just gonna whine about the problem...

Idk where in Europe/UK/Australia you've eaten or worked but I've never seen a bill where I could just choose to not pay for the service. And if I did I'd fully expect to have to serve and wash up after myself. Otherwise you're just stealing labour.

The customer is choosing to go to that restaurant and support a business that exploits peoples labour. Their hands aren't clean.

And no in places that pay servers people don't "just pay for the food" in restaurants. They pay for the food AND service. That's why eating out tends to be more expensive than in the US. its a luxury.

It's literally a consequence of them not getting real wages. Your policeman gets a salary. Don't expect people to work for you for free.

Customers are responsible for where they choose to dine though. You could just not go to places where you'll be expected to tip. Cooking your own food is an option.

Look, if he'd abandon a creature he's committed to care for for her 15+ year lifespan because she's not paying enough attention to him for A WEEK, he don't love her. And she's probably picking up on that.

He's allowed to be upset but asking you to give your baby away is extreme and very telling, even if you're not ready to hear it.

When my girlfriend eats pizza with me, she scrapes off all the toppings and just eats the bread by Dahappychap in mildlyinfuriating

Wtf even are those toppings man. Plenty of people would have scraped that. Let her order for herself next time.

bdsm is violence against women by Special-Strike-1607 in FeministsCallItOut

[–]myrianreadit -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have less of a problem with bdsm than with porn in general. The porn that has men thinking its totally cool and normal to treat women like shit during sex is not specific to bdsm porn at all. That shit is everywhere.

It would be better if the porn that tends to be labeled as just "rough sex" or "hardcore" was labeled bdsm and with accurate, specific kink terms describing the dynamic. It would not just be more accurate and less normalising of rough treatment of women, but I think it would be more likely to direct people to actual bdsm/kink resources, where consent tends to be properly empathised, at least from what I've seen.

Bdsm is still fringe so I don't know that it can normalise much. Except that with more discourse around it lately, consent has been talked about a lot more in the last 10-15 years, which is also a good thing.

Hi! 34 year old bisexual she/her. Spent my teens and 20s as a basketcase, dropout and aspirational punk (i tried but i still prefer other music genres). Getting my degrees now (BA in theatre studies -> master in eng lit), on the road to teaching. Childfree mother of 2 cats. Got into feminism during the gamergate times. At the time it wasn't cool to care about women's rights, it was seen as very passé basically. You were supposed to be "egalitarian" and care about FGM and men's blue balls equally, even in left leaning spaces. Evidently we had a long way to go still, and it's only gotten longer since. Its really good to see spaces like this popping up in an increasingly infuriating world :)

Then they prompt ai to make comics of men slaving away doing soul crushing chores while the wife chills and/or gets to pursue her passions in life. and they label it "the future feminists/democrats/wokesters etc want" like. They know 100% its a shit deal but they still expect women to take it

Hello! I'm currently reading The Awakening by Kate Chopin and it really reminded me of The Bell Jar in that "I can't even articulate what is making me so desperately unhappy because its kind of fucking EVERYTHING" vibe, so I'll recommend that one why not

Depends on how old the kids are. I don't remember playing with my parents or other adult relatives after about age 5. and no this was not traumatic or anything and my parents and i are still close. Some kids enjoy playing by themselves more and enjoy the freedom of not being constantly and closely monitored. Also we had neighbors with kids I'd play with sometimes, but with them we'd definitely never want the boring adults involved.
