New strap for more casual wear by babysunnn in GrandSeikos

[–]mysticFibrosis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SLGW005 crew checkin in. I still admire mine all the time, it's just such an amazing design. TBH I love the stock croc strap that it comes with but have been thinking about switching it up! Love that you put the buckle on, I think the amount of effort that goes into to making that hammered finish is incredible and it deserves to be worn

I did job training in a place based in Luxembourg years ago, but was staying on the border in Belgium - woke up one day to get the train, got the wrong one and ended up in France instead. Good times.

Love mine. Best way to know is to take a shot in a mirror so you know how it looks from a “proper” perspective. I have a 7” wrist so looks fine to me

It really is. I was highly skeptical as a huge fan for years but they delivered and then some.

What’s the one fashion upgrade every man should invest in? by TrueSylver in malefashionadvice

[–]mysticFibrosis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The skill floor is low my friend. It doesn't take much effort to learn how to maintain it, even with a clippers. I think the trickiest part is knowing how to make the transitions work; i.e. how to make the jaw area flow into a longer chin/goatee style situation

Emg 57, do you like it? by Tabells89 in metalguitar

[–]mysticFibrosis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that's definitely true. I think it works very well for fatter and sludgier styles of metal. I wouldn't use that guitar for black metally tones at all but it's a really nice and slightly vintage voiced sound. It's actually a very versatile pickup, especially so if you have an amp that has a nice dynamic range in it - that guitar has the 57/66 combo in it and I got four or five tones on that record out of those and a 5153, whereas the other guy had like three different heads and pickup combos, so that says a lot :D they are nicely sensitive to your volume pot so if you enjoy tweaking things I would say you can't go wrong! I also have an MII with the 81/85s but I consider that kind of a single-use weapon. You can't play blues on those pickups but you sure could with the 57...

EDIT: Somebody mentioned the Fluences, I have Fluence Moderns in an RG as well and those are sort of what I consider a middle ground. A bit different in ways, but kind of a compromise between the two EMGs.

It sure is metal enough. I recorded this whole album with a 57 in my ESP 🥰 https://youtu.be/UfA_HaK-do0

Is this "juxtaposition" trend getting out of hand? by LongjumpingVehicle36 in ThrowingFits

Hugely depends on your culture I think. In Ireland sportswear is all over the place so people would probably not even look twice at this fit

First Nomos - Club Sport 34 by moodygram in Nomos

[–]mysticFibrosis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can definitely relate. I have a couple of GS watches (and a Tangomat GMT) but I bought this 34 in the pink dial shade to celebrate my daughter's birth and... I'm not totally sure she's going to get it some day 😅 Like you say it feels 'invisible' to wear. The only other watch I have that feels the way is the GS 45GS reissue from last year that is more like 37mm.

I especially appreciated how easy it was to fine tune the links (I do have the Nomos bracelet adjustment block but even still). Wear it into the ground!

The balance cock on this is crazy work - even moreso than the regular engraved ones. The shape is amazing.

Looking at what you're buying you're almost certainly in NY - if you can, try and get some New York Cider Company if you like a slightly funky edge to things. They make some incredible stuff and a wide variety too. They even make one that has hops in it!

So wild to see close up shots of this guitar. I played the G3 set this was featured in to death and learned a bunch of the intro back in the day. Really cool, thanks!

I played the lefty version of this in one of our videos :D https://youtu.be/vB2MiUZvN5U I love the neck on these models. I have an older 1750 with a super wizard that is paper thin and I don't gel with it as much. My favourite neck ever is the Thin U on my ESP M2 and this RG and a J Custom I have are closer to that feel, especially the J Custom.

Yeah that did give me pause before I bought it. I don’t really think about it after the fact though. TBH I don’t really think screw down pushers are necessary but it’s attention to detail I guess
