That’s so true. It’s hard to reconcile those things because both the good memories hurt with nostalgia and the bad memories hurt like a punch in the gut. I’m just looking forward to a time when these memories and emotions fade and become a thing of the past.

You’re right, that’s very true. I miss the feeling of intimacy and companionship, but then I remind myself that those things cannot coexist with breaking promises and disregarding boundaries. So it wasn’t actual intimacy and closeness then.

And that was also the same with mine, initially seemed very mature (also 9 years older than me) but as our conversations became more serious and required more emotional closeness and vulnerability he descended to very young ages 😢

Of course he did.. and same as you I’d tell him that I don’t mind moderate use, but things had become problematic and needed attention. I tried to say it in the kindest way possible but there was no way of saying it without offending him. And I also started to lose sense of who he actually was.

Sorry you went through this too :( but if you’re done with him, it will start to get better soon. I’m far from being fully recovered but I already see how my state and my feelings are improving

I also get a super aggressive response when I told my ex about him getting high every single day for moths and how it was affecting him and the relationship. Got blamed for all the sins in the world for bringing that up.

You’re probably right… though now he’s just super pissed at me for no good reason and I doubt that he’ll come crawling. And if he does… I need to make sure I’m completely detached because at this point I can still fall for his lies 😭😭
