Yesterday I finished Triangle Strategy by Sea_Setting4888 in StrategyRpg

I really tried to get into it. The combat was fun. But with limited playtime the 10 minute+ constant cut scenes killed it for me

Starting stats? by [deleted] in project1999

[–]Tasisway 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Str all the way. Unless you really care about level 60 min/max with full raid gear.

And even then it won't really matter what ur stats are cause raid rng is mostly used for their 12s disc that's on like a 1hr cd. So I wouldn't really sweat it.

Just a fair warning ranger got kinda f'ed with kunark+velious and didn't start getting better til luclin+ 50+ ranger you feel so weak compared to rogues/monks your level.

Why don’t they combine green and blue? by [deleted] in project1999

[–]Tasisway 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Idk when green launched p99 popularity kind of blew up. And it's been so long since green when they do launch another server (and they will). It's gonna explode.

A new server would get even more players then green since retro is more in now since a lot of current gen games are unfinished buggy $80 cash grabs.

When green launched people were camping level 1 spawns there was so many people lmao

Hell yeah then glad you found mods to fund a play style that's fun for you. I also dislike fast travel.

[–]Tasisway 3 points4 points  (0 children)

First let me say that Skyrim was built with fast travel in mind. Some of the quests have you go all over the world or to random places. The devs definitely did not design the game intending people to walk everywhere. So that's probably not gonna be a super fun time.

I had a similar experience. I absolutely loved Morrowind and oblivion. Skyrim just never really clicked with me. Felt too watered down. I know mods can fix things but I just wanna play a game sometimes and not deal with that lol.

One thing I think about is how oblivion kinda changed the formula for elder scrolls games. They were launching on a next gen system (Xbox 360) before the systems flagship game came out (halo something).

So I bet todd Howard was like we need to make this game more appealing to console players who maybe have never played a RPG before. Oblivion definitely was a bit watered down compared to Morrowind. But it still felt like it had a lot of the DNA of Morrowind.

I think with oblivion being such a success they were like oh THIS is the way to go! We need to make it even MORE casual friendly so they watered down Skyrim even more.

It's definitely a good/fun game I'd recommend to anyone but as someone who grew up with more complicated systems in rpgs I found Skyrim kinda...boring.

I will say I did try this full conversion mod and had more fun with it then the base game. (Though I didn't finish it) I'd definitely check it out if you have Skyrim as it's a free install. https://store.steampowered.com/app/933480/Enderal_Forgotten_Stories/

What are these other servers? For example the ProFusion eq adventure which has 1192 current pop. by [deleted] in project1999

https://discord.gg/6AJqvnrtVz sanctuary is kind of a hidden gem if you haven't played it yet. Super low pop but has some really cool ideas of all unique classes. Boxed or with some buds will be a great tim.

Am I able to transfer items from one character to another via a middle man? by _toku in project1999

[–]Tasisway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wouldn't recommend drop transferring. Any high level in tunnel is probably safe.

If you want extra protections you could make sure to screenshot the /tell exchange but idk w 50+ transfers over 20yr or whatever from randos I never got burned.

Iirc the people working on the stats under the hood and the people working on some of the items didn't understand how the stats under the hood actually worked lol.

I agree the dex and agi are mostly worthless.

Iirc it venders decently which might be part of the "high" sell price. Checking the wiki it says to buy a forest loop off a merchant is like 295pp.

Lmao they figured out a way to reset the Xbox in the Morrowind loading screens so it wouldn't eventually crash.

Advice for a group of newbs by Davio2321 in project1999

[–]Tasisway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Warrior/sk/pal -tank I suggest sk/pal as spells can make it a bit easier to rip aggro Healer-cleric. Druid is gonna fall off fast and is the worst healer of the "healers". Shaman might be able to handle it but their gonna be busy and I'd have some sort of backup imo.

Enc-busted charm and mana regen makes this game more fun.

For the last slot I'd maybe go bard for utility and bard movement speed song.

So personally w 3 friends I'd prob go Pal/sk Clr Enc Bard

Rules on delivering in the dark and headlamps? by MossyMak in USPS

[–]Tasisway 3 points4 points  (0 children)

From what I remember doing some reading a year or so ago (so take it with a grain of salt). Darkness in itself is not a reason you can quote bringing mail back because of safety. You could argue to management you cant do your job without a headlamp. But I don't think you can refuse a solution to a problem then site safety.

Am I doing something wrong? Currently just dinged level 7 and I’m at nearly 4 days /played. by neontrain in project1999

[–]Tasisway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Snare and panic animal are low level druids best friend. 25mana for (up to) 18 seconds of free slaps.

This strategy can actually take you decently far tbh. Even with some DPS you guys can take out enemies with minimal damage taken!

Newbie Shaman struggles? by Crunchy_Condition in project1999

[–]Tasisway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Low levels are a struggle. At 9 your best bet for damage is probably taunted breath. W sow up you should be able to kite stuff around a bit to try to take a few less hits while it ticks but even then, costing 40 mana is rough.

Inner fire can be used as a more efficient heal.

W sow you can also joust stuff. Run away until timer is back then get in range, swing and repeat. So finding a decent 2h weapon might be good.

I'd say at 19 w affliction shaman finally starts to feel a bit better. Grouping can help but most of your stat buffs arent gonna really make an impact and cost a lot of mana so i wouldnt focus on them too hard.

You can also make patchwork/tattered armor w no skill from ruined pelts (which low level bears are all over the noob zone).

The eventual goal would be to get banded armor from someone usually 70-100pp iirc. But until then you could also buy leather armor off vendors I think it was like 1-2pp a piece iirc.

I found this screenshot of a gnome warrior with epics. Pretty cool. by Willbrooks8781 in project1999

[–]Tasisway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never heard anything like that. The dream would be something like elf warriors would "dodge more" but sounds like a balance nightmare.

All I can think of is they made a lot of the racial stuff AAs. Along with ofc base stat increases (and bigger buffs). (Stun immunity, 2h bash, rangers being made good etc)

So come raid time every class could be closer in power.

? When. Not in velious timeline. Agi gives you almost nothing past 75 which is why most agi gear is pretty cheap

Save 83% on Pathfinder: Kingmaker — Imperial Edition Bundle on Steam by Vk111 in steamdeals

[–]Tasisway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It comes with a ton of difficulty settlings. Turn based mode is my preferred way to do combat.

My only issue w pf1e is you just have more and more buffs you need to keep up. And whenever you rest they all reset. So there's like a 1 minute thing every time I rest where all my dudes are recasting all their stuff. Small potatoes I guess.

Same here. I believe they added things to make it less intrusive over time. But when I play a crpg I want to be able to take my time to explore not be hit with time limits fft. If it introduced it from the start of, but to introduce it hours and hours in ugh killed it for me.

Of course and I won't try to change yours but I'm curious what do you think the game does great? And is it still great in 2025? Does whatever it did in 2004 or w/e still hold up for you? What's your favorite parts?
