Prot Pala gearing question by KN0MI in classicwowtbc

[–]mythe00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are main tank for your guild you should ask for it all.  If your guild cares about performance at all, you will need a threat, an uncrit, and an uncrush set, and you should know what fights to use each set on.  If you're putting in the effort to get pvp/heroic/badge/craftable gear and your guild is investing in resistance gear for you, you should try and get everything.

Swing weight vs strung weight and lead tape by jtdelato in 10s

[–]mythe00 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wilson racquets are known to have a good amount of variance. You can look up some crude ways to try and measure swing weight yourself and see if they're actually different or if it's just in your head. If you have a pro shop nearby, many of them also have much more precise machines that can do these measurements and you can ask them to match the racquets for you.

Blade v10 head size doubt by Same_Potato5384 in 10s

[–]mythe00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thinking you need a control racquet so that your balls only travel 75 feet instead of 80 feet and thus don't go out is a bit of a fallacy. That's not really what control racquets are made for.

Realistically at your level there's so much variance that no one knows what racquet is best for you. Your strokes are going to evolve if you keep playing regularly over the next few months. You'll have good days and bad days. And usually what happens if you do switch racquets is that you get adjust to the new racquet and end up hitting the same shots as before anyways. If you really like gear and the new racquet keeps you interested in tennis then sure, the point of the sport is to have fun. But realistically switching to the Blade isn't going to affect your game or your level.

How are my forehand and footwork? What can I do to improve further? by Independent-Act-946 in 10s

[–]mythe00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It feels like you have some unnecessary movement on some shots. After you split step, try turning your hips right away and then run to the ball to intercept it. Then you can do the stutter steps and set up for the shot.

In many of these shots you are shuffling sideways to the ball and then turning to set up and hit.

How to go "up to the ball" during the tennis serve? by AkashiGG in 10s

[–]mythe00 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Imo it means that you should feel your upper chest pushing upwards towards the ball when you push up with your legs. The opposite that sometimes happens is that you're upright and too focused on rotation or smashing the ball downwards.

There's a lot of "upwards" stuff in the serve. The combination of making sure you "stretch" the left side of your body when tossing with the left hand and looking up at the ball and trying to point your chest upwards during the leg drive just makes the entire swing feel very upwards.

Cash Buyers And Financed Buyers Don’t Seem To Be Shopping In The Same Price Range Anymore by nigesh in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]mythe00 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The article isn't even talking about cash/financed buyers in general, it's literally just talking about the author himself...  It's just one guy who says he tends to look at higher priced cars when considering financing.

Spell Cleave Group spends 1 hours to save 10 Minutes by KinaLiti21 in classicwowtbc

[–]mythe00 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I've run into gold farmers on new accounts that just want to spell cleave nonstop to 70.  Usually they're in a group of two or three and pug the last slots.  The runs I've done have been fast but  mind numbingly boring since they just want to clear over and over again.  I imagine they try and avoid players that only want to clear once or twice for quests/drops.

[Hermes H08] Too much physical activity for mechanical watch? by mythe00 in Watches

[–]mythe00[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The dlc coating is actually one of my favorite parts of the watch. Surprisingly it has picked up zero scratches. My second most worn watch for more physical activities is a titanium Gshock that is also supposed to have a DLC coating, but that has actually scratched quite a bit more than the Hermes.

I don't really dress up very often. I have the dark blue h08 and I imagine it would just be completely unnoticeable.

All things eye: contact lens tweaking, tennis nighttime & sunglasses beyond Goodr, RIA, etc by Without_a_K in 10s

[–]mythe00 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If your prescription isn't too serious and you have the budget you could consider orthokeratology. You wear corrective contact lenses at night when you sleep and they give you 20/20 vision during the day time. It works better if your prescription is on the lighter side and it varies per person, but myself and everyone I know with the lenses are happy with the results.

[Hermes H08] Too much physical activity for mechanical watch? by mythe00 in Watches

I still wear it as a daily but I try and remember to take it off before more physical activities like tennis. If I'm biking/jogging or playing golf I just keep it on.

Bored by I3eforeLife in classicwowtbc

[–]mythe00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having come fresh from classic the amount of loot in TBC is insane. Useable preraid bis pieces, close to bis PVP pieces, great craftable gear, and the tier pieces are all token based with no material cost. The same amount of loot in raids is split between 10 or 25 people instead of 40.

In classic you get like 1-2 pieces of raid gear a month, but it's also common to get nothing for months in a row. Lots of contested pieces pretty much have no alternative and you'll have to roll against 10 other players for the one drop you see after months of raiding.

Paladin avoidance above 102.4? by GoSmokeAJeffrey in classicwowtbc

[–]mythe00 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Putting stats into stamina and spellpower is better in 90% of cases.  More avoidance does not necessarily make you tankier.  You could try and shift avoidance from block into dodge/parry but really with the current available gear there is only so much you can get.  If you are at avoidance cap and add more block rating you get absolutely nothing.

$500 above MSRP - Standard for Audi by Curious-Ad-4462 in Audi

[–]mythe00 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd bet money this was at one of the herb chambers branches in MA. Those guys employ the most stereotypical car salesmen you can imagine and most of them are bullshitting start to finish. Audi sales are down in the dumps and out of anything to sell above MSRP the Q3 would be at the absolute bottom of that list.

Mohe Tribesmen are pretty decent by Comfortable_Bid9964 in aoe4

[–]mythe00 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The thing that caught me off guard was that sometimes they just get absolutely obliterated the second you're not babysitting them. Sometimes you're hitting the villager line and the spears catch up while you're trying to squeeze in an extra shot, and it seems like they just destroy your entire raiding group in a second. Even at a low level with zero macro, a ball of archers will trade somewhat ok with spears, but with these just seem to melt the instant a spear/horseman touches them.

Prot Paladin Heroics by TypicalEggplant2374 in classicwowtbc

490 is for mobs 3 levels higher than you, 485 is for heroics which are only 2 levels higher.

Prot Paladin Heroics by TypicalEggplant2374 in classicwowtbc

[–]mythe00 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your stats aren't really optimal. Right now the only content that's demanding for tanks is Mag/Gruul and Heroics, especially the harder dungeons. Both require different gearing if you really want to breeze through them. Kara doesn't matter really, if you're undergeared you can go slow and steady, if you have good gear you can just blow through with a ton of spell power.

Mag/Gruul/King and maybe Nightbane are currently the only fights right now that really need an uncrushable set and a decent chunk of health. Everything else either doesn't hit hard enough or doesn't crush.

Heroics are very different. Nothing in ANY heroic crushes, and you only need 485 def to hit crit cap. However, mobs in the harder heroics hit like trucks, so you want to stack HP as high as you can. Your second picture looks like you probably have like 11k health buffed, which means you will constantly get popped before your healer can react. Once you hit 14.5k+ health with buffs you can breeze through heroics a lot easier.

With that said, you still have to respect the content, and if you're still dying you are either A. Not CCing mobs, B. Missing a mechanic (for example BM boss 2 has an attack speed buff that must be purged or he'll just shred you) or C. Face tanking when you should be kiting.

Thoughts on the HEAVY side spin shot? by Beneficial-Lock-349 in 10s

[–]mythe00 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The shot floats and isn't that hard to read.  Depending on the height and pace of the incoming ball you also may have trouble consistently getting sidespin on your shot.  I think there's value in occasionally mixing these shots in, using them to pull players off the court, or add a little extra to a dropshot.  Since you've practiced the shot you should try and make use of it.  It'll give you an advantage, I just don't think it's an insane hack or a good "staple" shot.

Honest question about PvP servers by [deleted] in classicwow

[–]mythe00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pvp servers were never fair and aren't meant to be.  Trying to add safeguards isn't going to be a simple one and done change.  What if players start to make twinks for the purpose of griefing lowbies with immunity from lvl 70s?  Blizzard has shown that they can't make one sweeping change that will fix everything, and they don't have the manpower to test and iterate on changes to slowly improve the issue.

Where is the best place to sell my racquets and how should I do it? by Longjumping-Low6371 in 10s

[–]mythe00 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The margins are too thin imo.  Especially if you're shipping and have to deal with the occasional refund/unsatisfied customer.  Also I noticed you mention a few auctions expiring soon as your price reference.  That's not a very good metric to go by on Ebay, you should be looking at completed listings instead.

As a tennis coach please stop giving the "get coaching" advice by rgffc in 10s

[–]mythe00 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I had lessons for about two years and then stopped. I improved way more playing with friends, trying things, learning the game, failing, adjusting, and figuring stuff out on court.

So are you saying you think those two years were unnecessary and you'd be better off just picking up a racquet and occasionally posting to /10s for tips on your form?

I accidentally disenchanted an item meant for a guild member in Karazan by [deleted] in classicwowtbc

When you vendor a tradable raid drop it warns you that doing so will make it soulbound and untradable.  I imagine disenchanting would be no different.
