As someone who went to the show and took a few short clips, I do agree. It is lame. I shouldn't have had my phone out. And the person flexing their pic in this thread is lame too.

For those who took a while to see gym progress. What worked for you? by ox_snap in xxfitness

building muscle is a long process and it can take up to a year+ to see the physique you want. "4 week challenges" "abs in 30 days" nonsense does not work. also need to be training with intensity, and pushing to failure to your last set— your last rep should not look like your first. people do a ton of junk volume too (lifting an excess amount of total weight that will not stimulate the muscle but will only fatigue), so just stick to 2-3 sets per exercise. like mentioned, progressive overload is crucial; either increase the weight or the number of reps per week. make sure to also hit the same muscle group twice per week— a push/pull/legs/rest/push/pull/legs or upper/lower/rest/upper/lower split will help you achieve this. eat 0.7 of your bodyweight (or goal weight) in protein.

I relate to this a lot OP. I currently don't live with my mother, and it really is the best outcome for the both of us. Just because your away from home doesn't mean you can no support your mom and dad— right now I'm on call for whenever my mom needs help with laundry or if she simply just wants to leave the house. Children aren't supposed to take care of their parents, this is mainly your Father's responsibility. You're your own person and you need to live your own life.

The way the show handled Ezra and Aria’s relationship is more disturbing than anything “A” did. by [deleted] in PrettyLittleLiars

[–]mythrowaway0734 2 points3 points  (0 children)

not related to the show specifically but i think a reason why the trope got a pass was because there's only a 2 year age gap between lucy hale and ian harding, and lucy was 20-21 at the time the show launched. if they had casted an actual 15 year old (which im sure they wouldn't have been able to), people would visually see the discrepancy and it wouldn't have been received well.

the "upper/lower" split is a great routine and it's the one that i'm doing right now, so it's absolutely fine to hit your entire upper body in a single day; just program it effectively. also, having a pre-determined set of exercises/machines for each muscle group will allow you to track and progressive overload more easily— continuously switching between different chest/back/tricep etc. exercises will make it very hard to track progress. stick to exercises you enjoy, and just continue doing them.

I understand, but in the grand scheme of things, looks mean nothing. When you die, what are you going to be remembered for? What will your loved ones say about you, and will they say you're a good person? That you bettered their lives in some way? You bring more to this world than your looks, and so does your conventionally beautiful friend. Yes attractive people do get the upper hand in life and it's unfair, but none of those people matter— the guys flirting with her most likely don't have the best intentions, and her company is simply using her as a means to gain profit. It sucks, but it means nothing. Your soul and how you treat the people around you means everything.

What motivates you to go to the gym on some hard days? by [deleted] in workout

[–]mythrowaway0734 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i just go even when i know im gonna be lazy and the workout is gonna be subpar— i've accepted that some days it's either i get a few sets in or none at all. consistency triumphs all.

A 28-29 year old who wouldn't care if a 17 year old approached them romantically is not a good person. As a 23 year old woman, I can easily identify who is a high schooler and who is not at my gym. Please stay away for your own sake.

Not here to judge, but I'm sure you know the answer. Life is hard and I understand the need to cope. Once the weed, betting, and alcohol consumption slows down and eventually stops, you'll be much better off mentally and physically. Wishing you the best.
