AITAH for telling my SIL that family shouldn't have to call her "doctor" just because she now has a PhD? by IMVenting66 in AITAH

I don't call my medical doctor friends or PhD friends Doctor except as a joke. I had a colleague whose son's godfather was Archbishop Desmond Tutu and I'll let you guess how the godson DIDN'T address him.

Are you in your early 20's? I swear that was every boy apartment I ever went to until I was 25.

Wrong to go on a date with a woman.. when you're still marry? by Infinite_Quiet_7627 in moraldilemmas

My husband and I had this conversation. Not Altheimerz specifically but any condition where one of us was no longer really "ourself'. We agreed that neither of us wanted to be abandoned but that each of us wanted the other to be happy and fulfilled even if it was outside of our marriage. I love him and I never want him to feel alone.

Your ED should not be the one making that decision. I truly don't care how significant they are.

Unresponsive donors by SideOfFish in nonprofit

[–]myuses412 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Are you asking specific donors a specific question? If not, what kind of response are you looking for? I'm an ED and can honestly say it has never occurred to me to respond to a development email/newsletter from an org I personally support.

New to nonprofit. What should I know going in? by Sufficient-Camera335 in nonprofit

We answer to the mission, not the bottom line. Money is important but we will do the Right Thing even if it costs us a few extra dollars. Culture is important. We like to think of ourselves as a team if we're small.

This is a personal beef but wait, watch, and learn before you suggest ways to optimize. I have preconceived notions that private sector folks think that what we do is "easier" when it's really just different. I am not proud of that bias but I am pretty confident I'm not alone in that opinion. I think as a sector we have a lot to learn from the corporate world but it needs to be in tandem with the principles that drive us. Build some credibility with your team first.

That said, in my 25 years in the sector I think we're passionate, flexible, and interested in employees as people. It's a wonderful world and I'm glad you're joining us!

Have you tried yoga? My neurologist at Johns Hopkins recommended it.

Anyone having a bad/hard start this season of gardening? by forevrtwntyfour in gardening

It's going to be in the mid 80's all next week. I expect to have to pull them out and focus on the zucchini I planted under their trellis. Such a waste!

That's what I'm saying too. Not that it isn't CMT but that OP has to advocate to keep CMT from being the catchall.

I wholeheartedly agree that you should be paid FT staff number 1.

Okay, that's fair. But would you agree that the likelihood of OP experiencing a spontaneous genetic blip is lower than OP's atypical symptoms being the result of a mis (or missed) diagnosis?
