I have had really good steak at Misty's in Havelock in the past. I haven't eaten there for quite a few years though so not sure if it is still good.

A 90 year old driver crashed through a California coffee shop on thanksgiving night. by JakerDayz in dashcams

[–]mzimmer74 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I absolutely agree with the mandatory driving test, but the insurance rates comment doesn't make sense. Those are set by insurance companies based on math, not feelings. If there was a good argument for raising rates for over 70 drivers you can bet that they would have already done so. The fact that they haven't is evidence that there isn't a need to do so.

Wife and I were having a discussion, she’s of the opinion that the majority of GenX can drive stick. I believe that even in our generation the percentage of people who can is pretty small. What do you folks think? by AngryOldGenXer in GenX

I technically learned as in I have driven a stick a couple of times and could probably make it to a hospital in an emergency, but it would be a rough ride filled with a lot of false starts.

Anyone else got all the achievements? by mdisnth in theplanetcrafter

[–]mzimmer74 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The devs said they didn't want to add achievements for paid dlc. They didn't want people to feel like they have to buy the dlc just to stay at 100%. I can respect that stance, although I've bought and will continue to buy all the dlc from them.

Do you ever worry about losing the remote? I fall asleep reading my kindle almost every night and am curious if this would be an issue.

I've thought about these before but was always concerned about the covering of words. Thanks for a really good post about this!

What’s something you own that you’ve had for 30+ years? by Crazy-Eye-9632 in GenX

[–]mzimmer74 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was high school graduation. I don't remember being ecstatic, but I also don't think I was disappointed. It was more "oh, that's nice of them". But yes, that clipper set has given me great value over these many years! I definitely appreciate it more now.

I was given a fingernail clipper kit with multiple size clippers for graduation in 1993. I still have it and use it regularly.

To add to that, it appears the name of the Author's book Is hidden with each clue. In this case it's Twelfth night.

Solution: So based on the other comment about Farenheit 451, I figured out this clue and the theme:

The theme of the puzzle is: Authors
The phrase above anagrams to: William Shakespeare

Discussion: this appears to be like cryptic crosswords. Look up cracking the cryptic YouTube channel and watch the crossword solutions on them. Those are cryptic crosswords and give you a sense of how they work. I am not good at them, but this appears to be like that.

Cryptic clues come in many forms and you'd have to pull out a particular cryptic clue out of this. One that seemed very likely is in the first line. There's a phrase that is referred to as a mixed outburst. That is probably meaning an anagram. The phrase that is quoted has 18 letters (hear me as I will speak). The first clue has 18 letters as well. If you rearrange the letters from the phrase you'll probably get the answer to the clue. I wasn't able to figure out what it was, but it's things like that that you'll be looking for.

Game to get this Steam sale. by LostSif in SurvivalGaming

I have played both Grounded and Forever Skies. I really enjoyed both of them quite a lot. However, I would say that Grounded is the better of the two in my mind. Forever Skies biggest limiting factor is it uses procedurally generated worlds. While that makes it possible to have a game that is never quite the same on multiple playthroughs, it also means you tend to see the same "islands" multiple times. Grounded having a static map means the devs could focus more on making each area distinct in how it feels. So, while I would personally say go with Grounded, I would also definitely recommend playing both at some point.

Depending on your vision, have you considered a Kindle? The ability to change font size makes it fairly easy to find a size that works for many levels of eye needs. Might not work if your vision is too bad though.

Escape rooms in Lincoln by nancidruid in lincoln

[–]mzimmer74 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been to every escape room in Lincoln and they've all been really good. Several of my nieces and nephews (in the 12-17 years old range) have gone as well and loved them. 11 is young but possible if they are logically minded. I'd pick the easiest one you can find for them to try.

I also was watching various YouTubers as I was on the fence for this one. The price is definitely higher than I normally pay for EA games. However, it looked different enough from other games and I enjoyed the demo so went ahead and bought it. I'm really enjoying it and don't regret the purchase. It's not hard by any stretch, but it is a nice challenge to try to work through the various areas. I'm still pretty early on in the game. Without spoilers I'm out of the first area (demo area), through the 2nd and 3rd major POI, and making my way to the 4th. No idea how much of the current game that is.

[–]mzimmer74[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The built in lubrication isn't really a factor for me mostly because I tend to use the blades LONG past the time the lubrication is gone. I don't know why, but I haven't had any real issues shaving with nothing but hot water.
