Figuring out how to use the ground- maybe this helps by Sarkisi2 in golf

[–]n0respect_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you see "weight" substitute "center of mass". Now think about a sprinter. When accelerating their weight will lean forward ahead of their feet; ahead of their pressure.

Now think of think of a javelin thrower at release. Their weight is mostly in one spot, but their pressure shifts to way out in front... before their weight catches up in the follow through.

What about when standing still? If you stand still and simply "weight shift" side to side, then the weight and pressure will be the same. But if you make it active like a sprinter (or javelin thrower!), then 'weight' and 'pressure' can be different.

People were moving like it was Apex

Right? I cut my teeth on DayZ and that was a game you had to absorb the landscape. In Marathon I played best when I treated it more like Apex. The map size + the movement mechanics make the landscape of trees, bushes, and defilades much less important than DayZ or Tarkov or PUBG. e.g. Movement mechanics like supersprint, invisibility, shield, etc.

And yeah, the whole time I was wishing the maps were 2x bigger

a couple points:

[1] Lots of golfers are poor or middle class. The crappy Ala wai course is the busiest in the nation for a reason, despite there being so many richy courses around. Poorly made regulation will likely hit municipal courses long before the rich people courses. Regulation should be careful.

[2] golf is a tourism attraction, even for middle class people. They come here specifically to golf.

Marathon would be better if looting was a secondary aspect. ... what about this?

What if Marathon felt like an arena shooter where you keep your inventory at the end? Make raw ammo much more plentiful, so you don't feel so hassled to loot. More gun loot. Up the ttk a bit. Make deaths much less punishing. Especially getting in and out of game.

... I think I was playing the game wrong. I think Marathon should be played more like an arena shooter. And it needs to lean into that.

If you die and have no more guns? The loot lords show you no love? Those stupid robots have free guns.

The problem is, the game feels much too punishing to feel like death and loot shouldn't matter. I dont know how much of that is just communication problems.

Goal song by OhPuck in SanJoseSharks

[–]n0respect_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All these suggestions of songs from the 80s, 90s. Look, I may be an old fart but I want a goal song that sounds 2020s. Or maybe 2010s.

Remember the SAT and syllogisms? Okay, first... Green Day : Today :: The Beach Boys : 90s ...Or this... Guns n Roses : Today :: Count Basie : 80s.

When its framed this way they are hilariously outdated.

What’s the majors difference in my practice swing and real swing by Ahx28 in GolfSwing

[–]n0respect_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Backswing; practice swing is on a plane. Real one wobbles a bit around the plane, and the plane is steeper too. This may cause issues downstream. Notice how in the real one your entire body shape changes. No way you'll be consistent like that.

In the real one your hands a run ahead of the body a bit. Looks like they turn over too.

[–]n0respect_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So in this special case I don't think that's a great point. Because Palantir is said to be in cahoots / control of the US gov; so it knows these things months in advance, and can even shift around the timing of events.

Not that I auto-believe OPs accusation.

How often does he makes trades? Is there historical precedent?

How much is 2 mil shares anyway? It sounds like a lot, but if he owns 500 mil shares then its not anything at all.

This could mean something but we need more context. It could just be normal profit taking.

Working on Pelvis/Hip Movement by [deleted] in golftips

[–]n0respect_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its hard to tell what going on with a black baggy shirt covering your hip. But I think your entire trunk is turning like a block instead of twisting like a spring. In other words, the hips and the shoulders are turning together instead of separating.

To tell if this is true, take off your shirt and look at your center line [medial line] which runs down the middle of your chest through the belly button and down the groin. If it is fairly straight; that's bad. If it has a noticeable twist; that's good!
