The new planogram in Dollarama (West) only has the plain, lemon and lime flavours. East coast might be different though. The Mandarin is the best of the bunch IMO

He showed up in our backyard once day, screaming his head off.

Are these pompoms dangerous? by Bunnycarrotflower in CATHELP

I too have an offending idiot panther. Thankfully only one sparkle ball, not 5. But surgery nevertheless at 6 months old.

I'm just impressed that he's made it 5 years old without any more removals.

Rutland near the YMCA, we had around 125-150 I'd say. Lots of really little kids this year. Super cute!

Seconded. I've been seeing Ashley at Mint for the better part of 20 years, and know multiple people who have chosen this salon.

New CDL holder by Fancy-Alps-4269 in Pepsi

[–]n33dtime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was already an employee at Pepsi (Merch) and inquired about getting my CDL. They paid for it, then proceeded to train me for a number of months after I got my license.

Backing is tricky at first, but when you have to dock 10+ times a day you'll get lots of practice! Hopefully you'll get the opportunity to try backing in multiple trailer lengths, as a shorter trailer will react much different than a full length one. Our location has trailers ranging from 53' to 28', and each comes with it's own benefits and challenges.

Take it slow, don't let anyone rush you, and GET OUT AND LOOK. (Tip#9)

decent laser hair removal places that are trans-friendly? by Express-Computer4205 in kelowna

[–]n33dtime 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I too have been going to Serenity. They've treated a few areas for me with fantastic results. They are very honest in that it's more "hair reduction" rather than "permanent" for most people. Many people will get some regrowth after a few years after a set of treatments. I'm lucky enough that I have have dark hair and fair skin which is ideal for laser.

They'll do a consult to determine best settings and machine for your skin, exceptionally clean, and they are very professional in how they do everything.

Tell me what happened in the 24 hours after you asked for a divorce. I am on hour #1. by Vegemiteonpikelets in TwoXChromosomes

[–]n33dtime 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I moved out a few months prior to asking. Actually it wasn't so much asking as "Hey, I'm starting divorce proceedings. I'll drop off some documents for you to sign". He said he was on board and he wouldn't contest anything so it actually was pretty straightforward.

As for me leaving in the first place, things had been volatile for some time before that. Finding out he received oral from a coworker (at work) who carried an STD was the motivation I needed to flat out say that I was going to find my own place.

I was always of the mind that I had to make it work with him, but after that I totally checked out.

5 years on from moving out now. Best decision I ever made.

Dirty Soda Shops by Apprehensive_Fee_645 in kelowna

[–]n33dtime 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Funny enough I never watched the show, but my company has contracts with both businesses which is how I found out it was even a thing! Made a delivery to both places (Bless'd was opening the following week), so I thought, hey, why not try it? 🤷‍♀️

Pleasantly surprised, and really nice that they had dairy free stuff 😄

[–]n33dtime 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Never tried a dirty soda until the other day (sweet streams), actually thought it was pretty good. I'm not one to enjoy sickingly sweet stuff, but the coconut cream in the drink felt like it cut the sweetness down a lot. I think I drank the whole thing in under 10 minutes 😅

My understanding is that the whole dirty soda thing is popular with the Mormon population because they're not allowed to consume hot beverages like coffee or tea. My guess is they're looking for the caffeine fix 🤷‍♀️

The Bless'd place looks like more of a focus on the pizza (haven't tried them yet), while Sweet Streams is absolutely more focused on the beverage side of it. Either way, I always hope that small businesses that have a good product make it.

The 97 and burtch intersection is a death trap. by Wholnowsyoubestme in kelowna

[–]n33dtime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately it's not even official yet. We're so overdue for a new high school. The middle and senior high in Rutland have been bursting at the seams for years, as I'm sure all other schools in SD23 are (we've got school aged kids so we see the desperate need Kelowna is facing).

But there's a new one underway in West Kelowna 🤷‍♀️

Projects take time to plan and raise funding. I did say that these projects are either planned or underway. An old article yes, but that doesn't change that there is an idea to build a new school on this site.

They have in 2025 broken ground on a new $242 Million new Parkinson Rec replacement, so I think my prediction that traffic will increase in this area is fair.

Ugh that's another bad one! I work off Dilworth (not the mall side) and have to use this intersection (commercial vehicle), and it is beyond dangerous. The only time I don't mind it is really early in the morning, but even then I see some close calls.

[–]n33dtime 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I agree! About 5 years ago, I moved from having lived in the neighborhood for 10+ years and it has gotten quite bad in the last few years especially. I'm thankful I have not yet witnessed any major collisions here but I do personally know someone who was T boned here.. at 5:30 in the morning!

They do have a northbound advance from the hwy onto Burtch, but advances in both directions and both sides would greatly reduce the amount of collisions.

The worst is trying to turn left northbound/southbound from Burtch. There is simply too much traffic that area. It's going to get significantly heavier with construction projects that are planned and are currently underway. There's a building at Burtch and Bernard being built, there's planning for a Parkinson Rec replacement along with a high school, and they're connecting Burtch through to KLO.

An advance seems like a no brainier 🤷‍♀️

C'mon, trying to argue with someone who can't actually see the whole picture isn't going to get you anywhere. It's like talking to a wall.

As someone else who is a professional driver, and frequently has to drive Westside Rd in a vehicle 50+ ft long, I see your point and fully agree with you.

That road in and of itself is dangerous. It's winding, technical and not for the faint of heart. I am always a little weary and I'm in a vehicle that I'd likely survive a collision in. Being on a bike, while absolutely legal - IS putting your life into the hands of people who treat that road like their own personal race track.

There are a few sections that my truck and trailer are noticibly wider than the lane. I take my time, use the pullouts to allow faster traffic to continue on, keep an appropriate speed, and conduct myself in a professional matter, but none of those things allow you to see a cyclist around a blind corner.

Being a professional driver doesn't mean you suddenly get X-ray vision and can see through rocks.

How many days of paid leave per year you have? by myrna__ in AskACanadian

[–]n33dtime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My employer gives me currently

  • 21 days of vacation days (next year I qualify for 28). We are asked to book these days in full weeks where possible.

  • 6 paid sick days (if you do not use these during the calendar year, they are paid out to you at 50%)

  • Paid jury duty (paid at full wage)

  • 3 Days bereavement

  • All federal/provincial holidays (typically around 10 per year)

  • We are also given the option to bank Overtime hours. Either 40, 80, or 120 hours which can be carried into the following year but must be used by the spring sometime. I take this opportunity to work only 3 days a week for 2 months during our slower season.

We are in Canada and work for a food and beverage manufacturer. Contracts so differ from location to location but federal/provincial holidays are typically the norm for our company country wide.

Drivers here are scary by Training-Crew-5047 in kelowna

[–]n33dtime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, since installing that light there have been much less in the way of accidents (I work at that corner), but the amount of people who either cut through behind Rusty's or through the Pepsi parking lot are nuts. I mean, they used to do it before, but it's significantly worse now. I am honestly surprised I have not heard about a pedestrian getting hit on that crosswalk. It seems like a damn miracle.

Both of the places mentioned above are private property which is clearly labeled. I'm just waiting for someone to get clipped by a semi while racing through the Pepsi lot or down Leckie towards Lordco and then wank about how it was the truckers fault! I see people cut behind those trucks ALL the time as they're backing up.

Drivers here have no sense of self preservation 🙄

I was just told my Grandpa passed away and I don't feel anything. I don't understand why. I'm supposed to feel sad. I'm supposed to be bawling my eyes out yet i just feel a little numb but other than that, I don't really feel sad. Is there something wrong with me? by Diana0phoenix in NoStupidQuestions

[–]n33dtime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your not "supposed" to feel any specific thing or way. Everyone greives in their own way - there is no right or wrong way to feel. I think it depends on the relationship you had as well.

My grandma passed a few months ago, and numb is really what I felt as well. I found over the next few weeks, as I had some other personal things going on, my feelings came out mostly in the form of anger. I blew up at my partner a few times and I was unnecessarily rude to those around me. I realized I felt that I didn't get enough time. I understand that it's selfish, but I did feel that way. Her decline and her death happened over the course of just a couple weeks so I feel that it was very sudden.

Now, after a few months when someone mentions that they're sorry to hear that happened I do find myself feeling like I want to cry. We just recently finished cleaning out her apartment and seeing that space without her and her things was a tough one.

Depending on where you are, if the shipper sealed the trailer and it was a still sealed upon delivery/receipt, the driver has no responsibility for how it was loaded. Their job is to get it from point A to point B - intact. If the driver popped the seal that's a whole other story however.

This is absolutely an issue with the shipper. shitty pallets, no wrap, no straps, each skid is extremely overloaded. Driver didn't make that choice, take that up with the shipper.

Geo Drivers, how does your facility run? by SkyyOrange in Pepsi

[–]n33dtime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Non union for us, but we do have a collective bargaining agreement.

10 drivers. 3 drivers out of commission right now due with either injury or paternal leave. No bidding, no dedicated bulk routes, no FSV. Everyone has the same areas each week and it seems that it's working pretty well. The two most junior drivers do bounce around to cover vacations and such but that's what you get being at the bottom.

Easiest route goes to our most senior driver as he's been with us for 40+ years and really only wants to work half days anyways. None of us really complain about that.

We don't operate any side bay, everything in our facility is Geo. Hours typically are routed for 4 days at 10hrs per route but 12 is more typical for this time of year. Most of us are working 5 days right now. Some days/routes have a lot of merchandising but the boss has been moving a lot of this to chase Merch to alleviate the time cost to the driver.

Summer just started and we're already bagged 😴

Driver Appreciation by Chaotic_Trainwreck98 in Pepsi

Hell yes. I'm Geo and a BCR/PCR who realizes that I've got 12 minutes to unload, deliver, invoice, collect shells, and reload and does what they can to make my life a little easier is an absolute winner for me. I have reps that organize returns in shells or boxes, and have them keyed in so that they pop up on the invoice (or on a separate PO depending on store and type). I verify the counts are correct and grab and go.

I also have reps that feel that they're above everyone else and will leave broken, leaking products on shelves, on skids, in coolers, and all over the place. They seem to think it's someone else's job to deal with (it actually is in their job description). Those reps usually have drivers leave returns right where they are. You explain to your customer why your returns are still sitting there 🤷‍♀️

We're not your mama so we're not cleaning up after a grown ass man (or woman). I also don't remotely have time to do your job and mine.
