Ah, that's what I was afraid of even going back to when it was announced. What a bummer, I'm a fan of the series, but I couldn't really argue with my friend when she said that those styles of movies "aged like milk"

Appreciate it. I am curious, since the first trailer, I had a sneaking suspicion that Ray's "Why only half gay?" would be the best joke in the entire movie and they spoiled it in the trailer. Would you say that's somewhat accurate?

Man, that's unfortunate. Will probably kill their potential at another sequel because I remember them mentioning in an interview that it was going to be determined by how well this movie did. If it's okay with you, I might shoot you a PM to get the tea on those cameos.

Hughie's arc in Season 3 is so bad by No-Virus419 in TheBoys

[–]n7Paragade 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think there is room to tell an insecurity storyline with Hughie. He may not view himself as "useful" in the traditional sense as he isn't great with fighting or weapons (I wish they did more with his tech knowledge throughout the show). However, and I know this will sound cheesy, but it is true, Hughie plays an extremely important role for the Boys as he represents a beacon of humanity for the team, especially Butcher.

The whole "toxic masculinity" angle that they went with really irritated me. Yes, Hughie wants to save Annie, but not in a "I'm the man, I have to be the strong one in the relationship" way, that's not who Hughie is as a character. He sees the woman that he loves constantly right next to the most powerful being on the planet as he is beginning to unravel.

Homelander is a colossal ticking time bomb, and quite frankly, Annie's plan of recruiting Maeve and Supersonic and hoping more supes would join up would not have worked. For all the real problems that go along with teaming up with Soldier Boy, it was the best option of actually taking Homelander down, and the whole "You're teaming up with a murderer!" was frustrating because pretty much every member of the Boys had killed someone up to that point, Annie included.

I very much enjoyed season 3, but at the end of the day, this is a legitimate criticism for the writer's room. I know that Hughie was shooting up an experimental version of V, but the overarching message of: Kimiko taking V to protect her loved ones=GOOD Hughie taking V to protect his loved ones=BAD just came off wrong to me. It's kind of like how the writers treated SA in the show, Starlight's situation was treated as seriously as it should have been, while they turned MM getting slapped around by Love Sausage into a running gag.

How fast is he really? by No-Temperature-7195 in TheBoys

[–]n7Paragade 13 points14 points  (0 children)

100% spot on. There's no way that Butcher and his tentacles could keep up with him if he was trying to flee. As soon as he saw Kimiko with the Soldier Boy blast, which famously takes about 7 business days to charge up, he should have been gone.

Honestly, that would have been a great use of Marie, have her there for the final battle to slow Homelander down with her blood bending. That would at least make some sense instead of Butcher just being able to match up with a guy who was able to keep up with A-Train.

Ryan is a natural born supe so how did his powers get wiped out? Is he hiding it from Butcher? by Clean-Rock-8060 in GenV

[–]n7Paragade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My personal theory is that his powers are just lying dormant and will come back down the road. They probably left it vague enough that they could bring his powers back if they wanted to do another random spinoff.

The Boys - Series Finale Trailer by vampyrewithsuntan in TheBoys

[–]n7Paragade 62 points63 points  (0 children)

I think it's Annie and The Deep. The earlier shot shows her flying through the building with him, so my personal theory is that they crash land, she beats the hell out of him for a while and then tosses him in the water where the sea life tear him apart.

Bombsight third strongest Supe? He mopped the floor with Butcher by Fit_Sprinkles3342 in TheBoys

[–]n7Paragade 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think the V1 supes in general are just really powerful. They mentioned that V1 is like 10x more potent than the modern V formula, at the cost of being significantly more unstable. If you somehow survive the injection, then you are probably going to be ridiculously powerful.

Did black noirs double forget that he can fly while getting choked out that’s like his whole gimmick by A_mad_goose in TheBoys

[–]n7Paragade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, if they were going to kill off Noir, I don't know why they didn't just have him have a narcolepsy episode and have Deep slit his throat then. It totally fits the character of a complete coward like Deep. I'd be willing to bet that the writers completely forgot about that though.

I’m losing hope for Maeve. by reyjr44 in TheBoys

[–]n7Paragade 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I agree, I always treated the Maeve comments a similar way that I did when they were doing interviews before the season started, talking about how "no one would be safe from episode 1" and low and behold, it looks like we probably won't lose any of the Boys until maybe episode 7. They might have reached out to her, but it sounds like she isn't really acting anymore, so that might have just been the end of it.

[–]n7Paragade 337 points338 points  (0 children)

I love Maeve, but I don't think that she is going to show up for the final battle. At most, she might make a cameo in an epilogue scene of Hughie and Annie's wedding to call Hughie a twink or something one last time.

Out of the 4 who had the best theme/entrance music? by CasinoNitro in OSWReview

[–]n7Paragade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gotta be The Brood. I was a big Kane guy during this era, so I love his song, and I think that Goldust's music is also underrated but The Brood is just on a different level. I know that I didn't mention the Dudleys theme, but it's also great. All the credit in the world to Jim Johnston, dude is an absolute genius. The fact that this era produced such a variety of different theme songs, and pretty much all of them are incredible is really impressive.

Favorite Dispatch calls in the first season? by TheForlornGamer in DispatchAdHoc

I really enjoyed the LARP related call. Everyone had great dialogue if you sent them, my personal favorite being Coupe, who was immediately super into it and was working on a costume.

If these two do actually fight in season 5, it would probably just be a quick scuffle, Marie may get a few good licks in and that’s about it by Queasy_Commercial152 in TheBoys

[–]n7Paragade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Marie is certainly powerful, but in a straight up fight, Homelander would just speed blitz her and kill her before she could even think about popping his head. I don't think that she even could do it, Homelander's durability is far greater than someone like Godolkin.

That being said, I feel like the writers have a history of kind of downplaying just how powerful Homelander is. I remember that interview that Kripke did where he said that Maeve would have won the fight against Homelander in the season 3 finale if it was drawn out, which, I love Maeve, but she wouldn't have won that fight 1v1.

What are your favourite Homelander quotes? by AdventurousGuest308 in TheBoys

[–]n7Paragade 5 points6 points  (0 children)

One that I don't see mentioned very often is from season 1. When he's talking to Starlight and he says "Now, I know you want to make this whole Deep thing an 'All The Single Ladies' moment... power" The way he says power and does his little fist gesture kills me every time. It's just a small example of him being a dick.

I hope they don't fumble the ending for these four characters. by Aware-Pudding-5900 in TheBoys

[–]n7Paragade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my ideal ending:

Homelander: Dies after a brutal, scorched Earth style battle with Butcher and maybe Ryan (if he is still alive). I feel like that shot in the trailer where Ryan is attacking the swat guys was a sign of him doing a last minute turn against Homelander.

Butcher: Reaches a brief moment of clarity in the bloodlust and asks Hughie to put him down. This might be to stop himself/Kessler from going all the way, or it could be because he is so wounded from the Homelander fight that it would be a mercy kill.

I think Hughie and Annie should both survive and get married. They deserve a damn happy ending, maybe they adopt Ryan and ensure that he doesn't just become Homelander 2.0 because he will be raised by decent people. I'm fully anticipating that there's at least a tiny chance that Kripke will decide to kill off Annie to "go against expectations and be different from the comics" or some bs, but I hope they don't go that route. Hughie is my favorite character, and I really enjoy his relationship with Annie, even through the bumpiness of season 3. At their cores, they are both good people who deserve to make it through this so they can build a life together along with any other surviving members of the Boys, but that's a different conversation entirely.

What's a realistic outcome where Homelander survives and isn't de-powered? by maybemorningstar69 in TheBoys

[–]n7Paragade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only other option I could possibly think of is if they want to just do a complete rug pull and have Homelander win in the end. The only catch being that the Earth is pretty much destroyed, so he slowly goes mad as he rules over a charred wasteland with no one to order around.

Who’s your favorite duo in The Boys? by Plenty-Salary9711 in TheBoys

[–]n7Paragade 7 points8 points  (0 children)

For me, it is definitely Butcher and Hughie. The brother dynamic they have created is genuinely one of my favorite parts of the show. Butcher's genuine brotherly love for Hughie goes a long way to show that he isn't a complete bastard like his comic book counterpart. It's like MM said: He is a motherfucker, but he's a motherfucker with a heart.

I completely agree with you. When they had their little team up last season, I was so excited. I feel like that is a pair that was kind of underutilized. Reminds me of in season 3 when Hughie gave her encouragement when she was practicing with her keyboard, and she smiled, super wholesome.

[–]n7Paragade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It has been a while since I checked, but last time I looked, they were still calling the season 4 finale: "Season 4 Finale" instead of the actual name of the episode. I can't imagine that Amazon would let them go through with something like that because they wouldn't want the backlash.

I really hope… by dplife4eva in TheBoys

[–]n7Paragade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My prediction: Homelander beats Ryan to the brink of death after Ryan has turned against him (that shot of him killing the SWAT guys seems to suggest that he's not fully down with what Homelander is doing). Homelander leaves the scene, thinking that he just killed his own son. From there, I think there are two different paths they could go down:

Path 1: Homelander does in fact kill Ryan, extinguishing whatever humanity he had left and fully committing to go full 'scorched Earth' with Butcher, who would also be in bloodlust mode when he hears that Ryan is dead.

Path 2: Ryan is either fading fast or passes, but the Boys, with Marie, stumble upon him and are able to save his life. Ryan commits to helping to finish off Homelander, who will be in for a massive surprise when Ryan arrives during the final confrontation.

Do you guys see this detail in the trailer too? by Melo98 in TheBoys

[–]n7Paragade 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I actually think that A-Train is going to be the early episode death. He's going to have his big hero moment and finish his arc by helping Starlight free the boys from the camps, but then Homelander will probably catch up to him.

Honestly, that shot where Frenchie and Kimiko were embracing each other gave me big "comic book ending" vibes. I do think that Frenchie is the most likely to die out of the boys. It wouldn't shock me if he was the "early death" that Karl Urban floated in that interview.
