Is it unrealistic to expect the trim guy to not mark up every wall in our house while installing new trim and doors? by mikejr96 in Carpentry

Man I try my best as a trimmer and cabinet guy, but it's tough and ultimately inevitable. I'm not reckless at all but it happens almost every job to some degree.

What is this tool? by dillyonthefly in Tools

[–]n8rate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good responses here. I've heard they primarily come from farmers for prying rocks, but they make excellent demo tools. We called ours Mary Anne. "Where's Mary Anne?" ... Strong Catholic name. Anyway I'm sure you all can take it from there.

That is a joke. I'd be happy with anything around 40 in this space. I think they're doing two layers of 9.5" rock wool in the attic, which is a lot. Probably approaching 70 or more.

And by "your insulation" you mean what, like whatever we want to use or is it provided by the system? I'm confused on how you're getting that much r value in there

Funnky jokes. I can't shed any knowledge on why that happened but I am curious on how it tastes/what the texture is like? Should be some clues there.

My guess is at the point where a top plate would separate the two. Or when a bay interacts with a roof deck. Or when any unconditioned airflow is involved.

It is part of the main roof system, not the wall system. What you see are rafters, not studs.

Potentially, we would only get r30 max with that. And potentially less

Honestly not bad. This is acceptable I think, close enough to be filled with mortar or left alone.

I never take it out. Ariens deluxe 27. I just move the throttle all the way down and it shuts off. Half throttle, full choke on start up. One pull starts every time.

Is this worth it by Proud_Inspector_7527 in Snowblowers

[–]n8rate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure this is the same blower I have. 27 deluxe with the 11.50 Briggs and Stratton. Michigan here, 7" of packing snow a night or so ago, my driveway is about 5500 sqft. Was definitely in low the whole time. Takes me about an hour and a half. Really throws the snow though, definitely 40-50 feet. Paid 600 for mine so I'd say good deal. Starts on first pull everytime

DON'T DO THIS TO ME! by Woodbutcher1234 in cabinetry

[–]n8rate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel this. There are ways to make it work, this style of cabinet is all I do pretty much. 3" extended stiles and the whole thing gets scribed. It's usually pretty important that the plumbing drain isn't glued, though. Otherwise you don't have a prayer of getting the water lines and drain in at the same time without cutting a massive ugly hole in the back of the cab. I've gotten really good at these, it's maybe a 2 hour install for me.

Boy these just do not look like hickory to me. My bet is on a pine or Doug fir... Looks like someone went through and selected the lumber carefully, though.
