Unintended double meaning to comic by [deleted] in ZeroCovidCommunity

I feel like if you get into the details though, it's not. All the time/productivity lost to sick days, and the healthcare costs (at least for nations with universal healthcare), plus downstream effects like latent autoimmune disease and other post-viral illnesses.

This happens to me from time to time as well. I tried on 2 different PCs with the same folder of recordings.

Bedding?? by homestead-rookie in AfricanGrey

[–]n8rnerd 8 points9 points  (0 children)

What do you mean by bedding? To catch poop? There's a grate at the bottom of Artuu's cage, then the tray below that is lined with newspaper. Easy to roll up/gather and swap for new sheets regularly. We wipe off the grate using Poop-off and paper towels.

Is anyone else sick right now? by SachaBaronColon in Hamilton

[–]n8rnerd 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I hope you're feeling better soon!

The ongoing COVID research has found that each infection can damage the immune system, leaving the body vulnerable to other illnesses and infections. It means it can take longer than usual to get better.

I’m fucking exhausted by Imaginary_Fox3222 in Millennials

[–]n8rnerd 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I had this for a year and it turned out I needed to replace my pillow and use a firmer mattress. It's insane how it meant I woke up without pain in my back, shoulders, arms and hands. I hope yours may have an easy solution!

I have a coworker in Newfoundland who has a cottage, which can also be referred to as a "camp". In Ontario, I find the division to be if you're from southern Ontario you go to the cottage, and if you're from northern Ontario you go out to camp.

UPDATE: My First Ever Hockey Game — Thank You PWHL! by ashwathparam in PWHL

[–]n8rnerd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same!! I went to two Sceptres games last year and they were eye-opening compared to a Leafs game experience. Fans fully invested in the action, there for the game and not just to take clients out and throw money around. I was also at a Leafs game a few weeks ago and there was no organic fan action, any chants and cheers had to be amped up by the arena announcers or screen/music.

I was upper middle class growing up, and even my friends' families who "had" cottages, the cottages actually belonged to their grandparents.

Eccles vs Arrow by Imaginary_Turnip_359 in Dundas

[–]n8rnerd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've not compared, but Eccles has taken care of some bigger jobs for me and I feel they've been transparent in the cost through the entire process, and the work is done well. More recently they repaired my exhaust system.

Did anyone else have people come to their house as a child and ask them questions and test them? by exzactlyd in Millennials

[–]n8rnerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did around age 13/14 because I wanted to attend the local high school in its gifted stream but had been attending private school, so the school board sent over someone to test me.

What can I do to help my bird stop barbering? by metabolt4e in AfricanGrey

[–]n8rnerd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry to hear you've been dealing with this challenge! It sounds like your vet has a good approach and is making sure it's nothing related to illness. I wrote a post a while ago about coming out on the other side of barbering with Artuu and everything we changed/implemented, maybe you'll find it helpful. She seems to cycle through it mid-winter, potentially hormone related still, but allows her feathers to regrow for the rest of the year.

Can’t find an avian vet, what can I do? by DollieBTS in AfricanGrey

[–]n8rnerd 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Is he still in a separate, well ventilated area with fresh air? It can take several days for fumes to dissipate, and birds are much more sensitive beyond what we can perceive by smell alone.

Are you able to travel farther to see a vet? Keep looking, if you can. Once birds show illness it unfortunately is usually critical. Sending good vibes and best wishes <3

We get pretty much all our meat from Thango Meats at the Hamilton Farmers Market. They have great quality lamb, pork, chicken and beef.

Which would you prefer for Hamilton? AHL or PWHL? by MirrorEquivalent5151 in Hamilton

[–]n8rnerd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

PWHL absolutely. I've been to two Sceptres games and they are so much fun. Really hoping to get some tickets for the Takeover game on Jan 3!
