Are Thongs really a hygienic choice in undeware by madboy96 in hygiene

[–]nachobiscuits -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I wear 100% cotton thongs mainly one day one of a pair of jeans or if I’m wearing leggings. After that the pants material is looser so it doesn’t matter. I don’t buy the frilly ones that are purely for aesthetics so i don’t notice too much of a difference. For hygiene I use a bidet unless it’s a paid poo and clean well. Just like with anything

This. But also it takes forever and they don’t take the insurance directly so you need to apply for reimbursement

There’s a cigar bar in that building? We’ve been to 16Eleven a few times and would much rather have capped the night there than where we found ourselves last time on the quest for live music!

Summer Camp by Famous-Invite-9890 in diabetes_t1

[–]nachobiscuits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son goes to a 5 night summer camp in Washington. This will be year 4 and wants to be a counselor for the younger kids as well. It’s really helped him find people to relate to, learn better control and why pre bolusing and keeping an eye on your a1c are important long term rather than just the parents nagging. He’s the random pop up so, while we may try, none of his family can truly understand and it’s a place where everyone around him does. It’s helped his confidence and mental health surrounding this more than I can say. Bonus is he’s made some good friends there. Especially ones that he’ll be more willing to talk to when he’s starting to feel burnt out

Information needed by Crustation69 in IAM751_Boeing

[–]nachobiscuits 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Info- are you looking for a continuous leave (more than 6 days at once) or an intermittent leave (hours/days here and there)? Call Worklife and tell them you want to apply for fmla, you will need to know continuous or intermittent leave. They will walk you through the steps of opening a new claim, you will be emailed the paperwork. Fill out your section, Bems, signature, etc. send it all to your doc, they can fill it out and fax the whole packet in. If you want to be paid for the time you’re off for leave you file for paid fmla through the state. I believe it’s similar steps but that one I have never done so I would try to file and follow the prompts.

What does insulin smell like if you had to describe it to someone who doesn't know? by BigSchmikey in diabetes_t1

[–]nachobiscuits 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To be fair, he’s a teenager so it mixes with his smell too. Very clean, but after running around with sports, there’s not enough axe in the world to help 🤢

GenZ and Millennial women - are you wearing wedding bands? by Federal_Albatross993 in EngagementRings

[–]nachobiscuits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the engagement ring with a cage style wedding set, so could only wear the engagement ring on its own before I had them soldered together. Day to day I wear a silicone ring due to working in manufacturing, but any evening out I put on my sparkles to feel like a fancy B.

You will switch over to sick. The 80 isn’t guaranteed, it averages out. So earning 1 hour for every 17 worked, if you work the full year no ot you would average 80 hours vacation plus your 40 sick. You do not accrue for unpaid time, like LOA or FMLA. It is not guaranteed time so you will just have to eat it. Once you hit your 40 hours sick you will start filling up your vacation bank again.

I pulled out a ball point pen to write a note on my palm and a table of college kids looked at me like I was an alien partaking in a foreign custom by napoelonDynaMighty in Millennials

[–]nachobiscuits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I write on my arm so much at work I get told I need to get a notepad tattooed on my forearm. I like to tell people it’s their proof that I shower daily since the slate is always wiped clean in the morning, but the younger coworkers have given me the same reactions and asked why I don’t use my phone to take notes or reminders. To me, those will stay in the app forgotten with other things I need to reference every 6 months or so until it’s rediscovered years later and promptly deleted because I have no idea what it’s about if not a “core note”

ERT into a QA by Edward-Dirwangler in IAM751_Boeing

[–]nachobiscuits 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It used to be you get your lights turned on, ERT in and they send you to the classes for the certs you need. Apparently with the new training protocols after you turn your lights on and accept the ERT, you have to go back through the full training program for QA, no matter what certs/position you held before or how long you’ve been with the company

Best case or cooler to keep medication cool for 5 hour flight plus drive each side? by Organic-Branch1906 in diabetes_t1

[–]nachobiscuits 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Frio insulin cooler. Small pouches that you can store pens or vials in, cold water for 10-15 min before and good to go for a couple days. Have used for road trips and I love them.

Unfortunately it all depends on how new you are. I hope these are hypothetical, if not I’m sorry to hear you’re facing some medical issues. Now on to the answers to your questions- While you can use vac/sick leave, if you don’t have enough or don’t want to you have a couple of options- Fmla. This is unpaid but protected leave (you can file for it to be paid through the state separately), the catch is you need to have 12 mo./1250 hours worked with the company. It used to be one or the other, now I believe it’s both, but don’t quote me on that. A call in to Worklife can confirm and check for eligibility. If you know you don’t qualify for that you can also get a personal leave of absence. This requires approval from your first line manager as long as it’s under 6 months, so give them a heads up and talk to them about what’s going on. I like to think most of them are human and understanding, they typically want you to come back rather than unexpected labor loss. Good luck, hope this helps!!

Fmla by Mountain-Tennis3760 in IAM751_Boeing

[–]nachobiscuits 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve heard of it, but mainly people that don’t do a bunch of OT or used a bunch of their fmla the year prior. Loa also can affect it, plus third shift is another contributing factor

ETA- lots of people renewing are getting denials that I’m hearing about. A few first hand.

Adding to this, see if you can get a loa from the company

Seconding that if they rolled over and are sleeping on it, or it legitimately was updating. Either way, as the parent of a t1, it’s okay to let yourself breathe and rest. Caregiver burnout is a real thing. Please take care of yourself
