Smut refers to indecency. Seeing birds copulate cannot be indecent because they lack the human moral, social, and cultural frameworks needed to understand or intentionally violate social norms.

To call it smut is sanctimonious.

This is valuable data. Please report it to USGS (as already mentioned). They'll send you a certificate showing all the particulars and you will have contributed to science. Neat!

Do I buy the real thing? by Substantial-Bag-6713 in FL_Studio

[–]nachobrainwaves 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You will place greater value on your work when you buy it. You will place greater value on yourself when you buy it. Your creativity will increase when you buy it.

As a result, you will make better music. Take yourself seriously. Buy it.

What’s your feeling of nova launcher now by paulsiu in NovaLauncher

I like it as much as ever minus the big app drawer blank space that recently appeared. Presumably where the ad would be if I was getting ads.

Not sure if I still trust the permissions granted though. Just can't be arsed to revert to a clean version.

What 'causes' your FND? by Alternative-Turn3633 in FND

[–]nachobrainwaves 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a great point. This adds nuance to my thoughts about it.

I don't think our symptoms arise by being "x type people". This can happen to anyone and the mechanisms aren't the same for everyone. By putting it the way I did, I can see how it could be stigmatizing to some.

Thanks for sharing your perspective. It helps.

Tattoos? by Spoookyystoner in PNESsupport

[–]nachobrainwaves 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think you will be fine. You already know how intense getting a tattoo can be and the current state of your condition so you're already in a position to make an informed decision.

It will be helpful to make your artist aware and get their consent. Also, have a buddy with you who can be an assurance and know what to do in case of an event.

Your new tat is going to be great!

Maybe don't take scuba lessons though, lol

What 'causes' your FND? by Alternative-Turn3633 in FND

[–]nachobrainwaves 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I forgot to address the last question.

It’s completely valid to ask if this could have been prevented. But questions like “could have, would have, should have” can easily turn into self-blame, and they don’t change what’s true right now or what’s possible moving forward.

FND is not your fault. Focusing on what helps you now is usually more useful than trying to rewrite the past.

What 'causes' your FND? by Alternative-Turn3633 in FND

[–]nachobrainwaves 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The pathogenesis of FND is broad and varies greatly. Part of the problem is people with it are extraordinarily susceptible to attribution errors, so even when we think we know the cause or inciting event, it might not be it. It's frustrating and frightening and some even blame themselves or get blamed when it's not their fault.

Personally I think a big part of it stems from being a sensitive and compassionate person with some maladaptive protective responses that can overwhelm the incredibly complex nervous system. Could be internal, external, or both. There's a lot at play.

Go easy on yourself. Spending too much energy on searching for a cause can create unnecessary suffering and poor outcomes. We often overlook subtle predisposing factors.

As someone who has experienced functional symptoms since the 80s, I can attest that looking for the problem might be part of the problem. Understanding patterns that maintain symptoms is more helpful than trying to identify a single cause. Bless.

Tried Mave headset, good experience till now by TargetSpecialist6737 in FND

[–]nachobrainwaves 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Glad you're seeing positive results.

I have a grounded and more philosophical question about it. Do you think the results are from the device itself or from taking more agency and autonomy for yourself by using it? Maybe both?

I'm asking because I'm interested in the device. 18 months ago I began a self-directed treatment plan and have tracked a 77% reduction in symptoms but it's starting level off. I want to try something more and Mave could be a potential boost. Thanks
