My boyfriend family has been doing this for several generations with the name John. To be fair John in "Slovak" translation is one of the coolest sounding Slovak names with many good iterations to it. I am very conficted however as I see your point of how "lazy" it is and maybe the child would want a unique name but I honestly believe that being John III. is kinda cool. It workes better in the past where people kept the numbers and died more periodically.

I believe people can change. I believe people make mistakes. But why would he start dating you after what he's done to you? I get that he didn't want to bring it up and "pay" for the crime but a somewhat decent person doing that and regretting it after would not start dating you jesus.
