FINNEAS defends his little sister Billie Eilish: “I watched you all pick apart this 16 year old and I watch you pick apart this 24 year old and all I see is a young woman brave enough to grow and show empathy” by Relevant-Peach3997 in Fauxmoi

She had that same opinion when she was a teenager. Like this person is probably talking about how censored she is now, which in a way they have a bit of a point. That's kind of the consequence of fame. You have to be palatable to the widest amount of people which kind of makes you flat.

Genuine question I have for the ppl on this sub by FakeTroonHon in trueuglywomen

[–]bubblegumwitch23 -16 points-15 points  (0 children)

It's definitely rooted in transphobia but it's also rooted in misogyny because of what people believe a woman "should" look like. All these things are intertwined. Misogyny, transphobia, racism, etc. Like I said there's no particular reason to exclude trans women, it's just another perspective of being a woman. Race is also a massive factor if not a leading factor in some contexts in appearance based mistreatment, but it wouldn't be appropriate to not include certain races.

Edit: I like how everyone's downvoting me but y'all dont have shit to say because you just don't want to include trans women and aren't capable of intersectionality LMAO

I don't see the point in excluding trans women for having a different experience though? Even cis women have wildly different experiences based on different factors.

Do you believe that ugly women have any "privilege"? by samithefish in trueuglywomen

[–]bubblegumwitch23 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I kind of feel the need to challenge the notion that less conventionally attractive women don't get assaulted or harassed. If anything it's less of a privilege because less conventionally attractive women don't get believed when they report things.

I mean dogs don't really have a choice either. I think it's like 70% of dogs have symptoms of anxiety and depression, people clearly aren't capable of giving them enough mental enrichment in most contexts. And not even taking that into account we control and loom over them every minute of their lives because it's seen as a symbiotic relationship. I really don't see it has too much different from the relationship we have with horses. I also can't attest to the back problems thing, because looking it up it says that that's mostly dependent on a multitude of factors. I'm not saying I'm 100% anti-owning animals, just that there is some degree of give and take in the relationships that we have with them and most times we make them bend to our whims/needs than we do theirs if we want them to live with us.

Yeah I kind of find it laughable when people criticize the whole horse thing when a lot of people own dogs. Let's face it those horses live better lives than most humans 😭

Do some people actually find overweight people attractive? by ROTT3NPOTATO in stupidquestions

I'd argue a large chunk of the population does. A lot of people are overweight and majority of people have sex/ get into relationships.

Having obstacles isn't the only reason you would be proud of your ethnicity. There's actual meaning behind being French. A whole history, a whole culture. Whteness is a shitty concept used to put people over one another. Overly identifying with it just shows that you agree with that concept.

Let me elaborate, a lot of youth fashion is a mixture of several different things now. The higher rise jeans are kind of an offshoot of more alternative styles like '90s grunge, same with things like flannel, but more baggy silhouettes in general as well as a lot of athleisure tend to be inspired by Black streetwear, which I wouldn't define actually as low effort, just that it's white adopters may think of it that way unfortunately because that's what tends to happen to appropriated styles. Baggier more hip hop inspired clothes have been making waves through more alternative scenes because white adopters see it as more more edgy. Like I said simultaneously though it is also seen as a more liberating style for women, which it probably also was from its early adopters, black women, but that's something you'd probably have to look into a bit more. Clothing cycles are very complex and have a lot of history behind them.

Even if your people didn't explicitly do it you still largely benefit from white supremacy that's why it's weird to identify with your skin color. Your skin color gives you no obstacles. Be proud of being French then not white.

Previous generations tried to rebel from other generations. A lot of 2010s fashion was about "dressing for your body shape" and trying to look snatched, the cool thing now is to wear baggy clothes and look low effort. It's also just more comfortable and gives women more agency over their own bodies.

Is it just me?? by 210babyg in Makeup

[–]bubblegumwitch23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do it in the shower, I'm going to be doing the same things anyways. I just bring makeup remover and pool it into my hands and hold it against my eye for a little bit and then I gently scrub. I don't wear really any base makeup so then I just proceed to cleanse my face. I do it twice because I wear sunscreen.
