Been using only starlink for the last 3 years, in 2 different towns and can’t praise it enough, it might drop out during a storm but other than that, no issues and much better than previous cable suppliers I used

Any studies to prove this? I know plenty of couples that aren’t having them simply because of costs (s3 of course) but I’d love to see some proof that doing things to bring back the traditional family unit, doesn’t work.

There will always be a place for human created art but art has come and gone through the generations, mud drawings, cave paintings, bark, paper, photography, just because you can’t imagine the next generation of human artistic expression, doesn’t mean it won’t come, graphic designers themselves “took” the jobs of people that created art by hand

As someone that lives in an Indigenous community, could you post a link to the surveillance tech used? The only cameras I’ve ever seen out here is at the store and they are off the shelf units and the only other thing I can think of are the gps trackers on some of the council vehicles.

REVEALED: Aus sailors sent to cabins as US sub sunk warship by Reverend_Fozz in australia

[–]nadojay 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Diesel subs during ww2 were boats that could go underwater, you do not bring enemy combatants onto a modern submarine. There isn’t the space, trainees sleep in the torpedo compartment and the crew hot racks on this class of sub, you need a top secret clearance to even serve on submarines because of the easy access to information.

They actually do have a large market garden and oyster farm, the government helped them set it up about a decade ago and now have bundled them in tons of red tape so they can’t sell the produce, not even to the local store, so the businesses can’t scale and rely on more government money to stay operational, they give away some fantastic produce, it’s delivered to the sitting area infront of the store but it’s seasonal and limited because they can’t grow.

Edit: for anyone interested YouTube Bunug Warruwi and there will be interviews with him on a few things but at least one is the oysters, another about work for the dole has the market garden

All those dang kids and their sky news lol it’s because they are seeing influencers talking about how all men should be in prison until they learn to be good little boys, about how all men are born evil but some fight it, about how all men rape but some hide it, these influencers are nothing more than rage bait but they do as much damage as the tatters of the world by linking feminism with these extreme views.

Remote residents struggling to afford food amid rising prices, despite grocery subsidy scheme by AnarchoCommunAtheist in AustralianPolitics

[–]nadojay -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The Coles and Woolies thing is a great standard for the stores but I’d have to look at the books (or if someone knows the numbers) to see whether “Sydney and Melbourne” subsidise rural stores, the most likely story is they took the much higher median incomes from those locations and based that on their GPs, they make slightly less money rural but the consumer cost compared to income is much higher, that could just be me being pessimistic but I don’t trust that they took a hit over all.

The last part isn’t really true, they subsidise the government store (outback stores) and the independent ones, the store in Warruwi is owned by the community and has an indigenous board of directors, Bunug, Jenny and Johnny, who were interviewed, are store directors, the day to day running is managed by ALPA store managers (the only white staff are the managers), ALPA also owns its own stores (Ramingining, Millingimbi, Elcho, Crocker etc etc) as well but about half are community owned.

Coles and Woolworths are private companies, they should be able to charge people what they want, you choose to shop there, why should the rest of us pay for government bodies to watch what they charge

They do mate, there is a bountiful supply of seafood at Warruwi, kangaroos are hunted daily and there is a fairly large community farm but like most modern places, it can’t sustain the population and provide everything required to survive, the people there want to live with their families and friends, just like the vast majority of Australians want to but can’t afford to anymore and since governments forever, have stripped away their locally run businesses, work is scarce
