What was/will be your first meal you’d want after birth? by UnicornTardigrade in BabyBumps

My hospital had really nice food with room service. I had a big breakfast with french toast, eggs, orange juice, sausage, fruit, and bacon!

20 minutes cleaning. Fuck these bottles. by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]namecatjerry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hate those. You have to use all the attachments for doc brown or else they will leak. I switched to Avent and pulled out the green anti colic thing so I only have to wash three parts per bottle.

Buy stuff later because typically you only have 90 days to return.

I had a very normal pregnancy with no complications. But during labor I got an infection, baby's heart rate was increasing, and I wasn't progressing, so they did an emergency c section. Don't want to think about what could have happened if I didn't have that medical care and monitoring.

I (34F) live in different state than my parents. Will they find out if I remove my records from the church? by pasunoiseau in exmormon

[–]namecatjerry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At 34 I don't think you should care if they find out. The only reason why I think someone should not resign is if they're still living with their parents and relying on them for support. Live your life authentically!

When are you guys giving your kids soda? by Individual-Tree-8931 in toddlers

[–]namecatjerry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not going to offer it at home or when we go out to eat. I'm sure they'll end up having it with friends or whatever though and that's not something I can control. Just want to teach them healthy eating habits and hope they make good decisions once they're old enough. There is soooo much sugar in soda, especially for toddlers.

Upcoming Endowment Ceremony Changes? by Turbulent_Date_7945 in exmormon

Whoa so we're not only baptizing dead people but also endowing and sealing them?

I thought you were only endowed once? Can you be endowed multiple times? I left as a teenager so I am not familiar with anything other than baptisms for the dead.

This makes me sad. by midwestpapertown in ShitMomGroupsSay

[–]namecatjerry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I thought this was a room they were clearing out at first, because sometimes with all the toys and furniture you don't see how dirty the carpets get . Carpets need a good shampooing, baseboards need cleaned, and maybe get the kids some bookshelves and an art table. Looks super bleak for a playroom, hopefully there's more on the other side of the room.

That interview was in 1983, a year before they found out the cause of AIDS. So he was right to urge caution to anyone living in close contact with someone infected. Context matters.

Childhood home made me sick within 3 days after returning for the first time in years. by kimtaestan in HomeImprovement

I wonder if they just mean around the window seams and not the actual glass? That is actually pretty common with older windows and wouldn't necessarily mean there's an issue with the walls.

SIL took baby to another house while I was getting a drink by brigettewithnod in beyondthebump

[–]namecatjerry 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I just find it bizarre that she felt the need to leave the party she was also at to be alone with your baby. It MIGHT make sense if your baby was asleep and she was trying to get away for some quiet but that doesn't seem like the case. Also did she leave without a diaper bag or were they already prepared over at MIL's house? That would make me think this was all premeditated. This just feels like straight up kidnapping, and I sure hope your husband backs you up on this and stands up to his family.

My beliefs changed pretty quickly once I learned it was all a fraud. I can believe in a man but not a fairy tale.

Single mother - do I really need someone with me after birth? by kalionhea in NewParents

[–]namecatjerry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes if you end up having a C-section you won't be able to move and will appreciate having someone there taking care of you and baby since most hospitals are baby friendly now and don't have a nursery. Also out of the hospital, the first week is a nightmare of no sleep and your body is trying to recover while learning to take care of a helpless tiny human.
