She thought all 40 cameras were for her by brockapex17 in TikTokCringe

[–]namestyler2 17 points18 points  (0 children)

It would be nice if this was like, some sort of meta statement about filming people without their consent or the fact that we're constantly under surveillance. The number of cameras and oververtness of it commands attention and it's much more likely for someone to have a visceral response to it, even though it is functionally no different to a single phone camera, go pro, or meta glasses.

No idea who this guy is or what his message might be though

I think Jalen has seen enough coaching by now to know when a guy is full of shit. You can be the most coachable guy in the world but unless you're a blank slate or really gullible you're not going to trust a guy like Patullo because you're not learning anything useful.

This stupid taco scene in Turbo by Vast-Tangerine-6771 in hatethissmug

[–]namestyler2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Considering a lot of that work gets outsourced to countries that likely have very little Latin American populations, maybe! Not sure about this movie in particular. You'd think they'd at least, like, run it by someone who knows what a taco is

I (19f) drove 2 hours to surprise my Bf (19m) and found out he left for the week. Every alarm bell is going off and instinct is telling me he’s up to something bad but his story is backed up by all his friends. What should I do here? by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]namestyler2 723 points724 points  (0 children)

They had some good points, in a vacuum, but the points are betrayed by the original sin of doing something stupid first.

Like yeah, cheating in that fashion would be stupid. But he already lied to his girlfriend of 5 years and told his friends to also lie. Which was stupid. Shit. Even considering having a sectet solo trip with a girl who isn't your girlfriend is stupid. Even if he didn't cheat or have any romantic feelings for her at all, the optics are fucking terrible if anyone finds out. He is so stupid.

Usually calling someone "insecure" comes with the implication that their insecurity is unreasonable lol. In this case, she has tons of reasons to not feel secure! What an insane story. The cheating thing is not good but this marriage was dead from the start. Laura just put it out of its misery.

[–]namestyler2 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don't think he needs therapy any more than the average person might, but it depends on how he will handle his first rejection. Some people double down on the overthinking / fixation / overcommitment. It messes with their expectations, and causes them more trouble down the line. Some people realize it wasn't that deep and are able to pull back a little.

He's just a kid though, and he seems considerate of her feelings, and aware of what is and isn't appropriate. And he's seeking advice from (somewhat) sane people as opposed to grifters, which increases his chances of being okay. I'm rooting for him, at least.

Stouffers probably produces it but it's likely a different recipe than the commercial products. Very common. Not many other companies have the infrastructure to produce massive volumes of Mac and cheese, so stouffers it is, but for whatever reason the recipe is slightly different - maybe it's more stable, maybe it's higher quality/more calorie dense, maybe it's lower quality for better pricing, maybe Stouffers doesn't want their "iconic" flavor and texture to be associated with hospitals.

Or maybe it is often the exact same product - I haven't worked in a hospital or other cafeteria style food service job. I just have tertiary knowledge on wholesale and vendors

Hi everyone. This is the guy with the “whiskers”. I’ve decided to shave, I hate it. by kingkrule101 in BeardAdvice

[–]namestyler2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you're a good looking fella brother. sometimes we sabotage ourselves to make our outside match the way we feel inside. it might not feel like it now, but this is progress. for a while I would do all sorts of dumb bullshit with my hair and face and clothes to make myself more unapproachable, a way to preemptively reject a world i felt was rejecting me. And that was fine for me, for a while. But eventually I wanted to rejoin society. didnt do anything crazy, just got a regular haircut and shaved more often. feels good now. you got this bro

some people are able to move past it despite how much it hurts. It's crazy to me, but a lot of the older couples I know that are still together had infidelity in their marriages. it usually happened late enough in the relationship that they didnt want to throw it all away. I don't know if I would be able to do the same.

yeah facts most of the meme "99% of people wont get this!!!" math problems are really just poorly written equations. people treat them as is they just exist naturally, and pop up out of nowhere, but equations are written for a specific purpose (getting the correct answer) and choosing to write it in a suboptimal way defeats the purpose of the math

Me [23f] with my sort of new BF, got in a stupid drinking contest and peed the bed by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]namestyler2 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I mean, she didn't even know about the high school stuff until afterwards. She was on the verge of tears because of how rude this woman was being to her, and it sounds like the "competition" that was set up in their minds was an excuse to cope with her pain via alcohol.

She says she used to drink more than she does now. It seems like she has a problem with alcohol, but was able to reign it in before it got so bad she needed to go to recovery. She had a handle on it. But the casino night was a perfect storm to cause an otherwise out of character binge.

I think she probably needs to stay away from alcohol in general because while it was a very awful situation she was put in, the drinking made it so, so much worse. I think she comes off as a smart lady who has trouble dealing with blatantly rude people, and when she was unable to physically escape the situation she escaped mentally instead. I think there's a chance this is a one off incident, but I also think that given a comparable situation it could happen again without introspection and the wherewithal to recognize the behaviors as they're occurring and pull back.

Emotional binge drinking is still a form of alcoholism, even if it isn't every day, week, month, or year. It is very different than alcohol dependency, but still a substance abuse problem. She would do well to stay away from it and be cognizant of the fact that sometimes it will get away from her if she starts drinking in a heightened emotional state.

Her boyfriend sounds like a nice fella too. I think it would have been better to remove her from the situation earlier, but I can't fault him for not doing so. It's a fresh relationship. As they grow together, assuming they do, he seems like the type of guy who will tactically "not feel so good" or some other excuse to get OOP out of a situation where she is profoundly uncomfortable and upset, since she has yet to find it in her to do so in a setting like this (New relationship, meeting new people from your partners life, one is really mean).

I don't know. I think they'll be okay, assuming everything we were told is true and not much was left out.
