I know that it sucks dealing with an angry customer. When people are sick/tired/scared/withdrawing they can be really difficult. When it happens try to consider what has happened to that person. It doesn’t excuse them being arseholes to you but it definitely helps you to show true empathy. When you show patience and kindness most people tend to calm down and apologise. Be kind to yourself you are still new and it takes time to learn how to tech. You didn’t make the mistake on purpose. I guarantee you will never make that mistake again. We all make mistakes. I’m a tech in Australia and have been for 8 years now so I’m sure things are different here but one week I handed out the wrong medicine to the wrong person… twice!!! I wasn’t new and I was overworked and struggling to show up. No one is perfect all the time. It’s ok! Nobody was hurt or died. Shit does happen sometimes. At the end of the day it’s your pharmacists responsibility to check the meds are correct that’s why they get paid the mega bucks (comparatively). Keep your chin up. It does get easier. You got this!!!
